Good Basic Slider Phone

Feb 21, 2006 by scubadvr1

I've had this phone for 2 years. It's a good basic phone and one of the first slider phones on the market. Bear in mind it's a tri-band (900/1800/1900) won't be used on all GSM networks in the US since there is no 850 frequency available. But for a basic phone (the whole point of having a mobile phone in the first place) it's a solid phone.

Pro -

-10MB shared memory for ring tones to be downloaded and your address book (which has capability for e-mail addresses as well)
-loud ear speaker to hear ring tone and calls
-T9 text input and ease of use of keys for text messages
-bright screen
-Address book capability-Can use as an actual address book - a function I use frequently when I'm on the go and eliminates my need for a hard copy
-Capable of getting real tones (.wav & .mp3) which was rare when I bought the phone.

Con -

-Battery life - for 2 years it held up well but talk time is limited to about 4 hours since I've had it.
-Slow response - phone software is slow in comparison to Motorola V300 (which isn't a ball of fire either)
-Lack of expandable memory (again a sign of the times not existent 2 years ago) but sufficient for the use as an all around phone
-Difficult to open - slide function tends to be difficult. No set place for thumb to push slide open without hitting a key on the front.
-No Bluetooth

Conclusion - A good basic slider phone for those who use the phone as just that - A PHONE! which will impress your friends, take average pictures for a mobile, has video download capabilities.

Sleek, sexy and stylish

I had the SL55 before and loved it because it was so small. This is basically an updated version of that phone. Still as sleek, compact and cool but now with more features. The design is first rate and I would recommend it if that's something that's important to you. The sliding motion to open the phone is innovative, elegant and quite unusual. Certainly turns a few heads in the pub. Lacks a video or MP3 player option, but the camera is of a moderately high quality and the photos look good on the high quality screen. Good service, cheap price and prompt delivery provided by FoneShop.com

I bought this phone because I thought it looked cool. But, this phone blows there is nothing good about it except for the design. it is really fragile, and the screen is affected easily, also, it gets terrible reception, and the keys are very small and hard to use. it is a complete waste of money

Buy it...if want to give away your money...

Nothing Good but the design.

Bad Signal
Ugly Icons
Too Little keys

That's so.
