Not worth the money

Nov 17, 2004 by bobby36

I switched to nextel about a month ago and got this phone because it looked alot better than the ones my friends had. At first it was cool because the screen was big, had the flip open button, and took pictures. But what i now realize is that my older Audiovox from Verizon took much better pictures than this. I think the picture's are garbage. When the case opens now, it crackles and just sounds cheap. Sure this phone is the best Nextel has, but after looking at other reviews, no one has seem to have tried another carrier because there are WAY better phones out there than this one and for cheaper. In my opinion, motorola phones are never the way to go.

The Phone That Made Me Come Back to Nextel

Oct 23, 2004 by vandykenf3

Once I seen this phone on the Nextel website, I knew I needed to have it. Recently I switched from Nextel to T-mobile. But I realized that was a mistake since my T-mobile got horrible reception. I was thinking about going back to Nextel, and when I seen this phone, I knew I had to come back. After I purchased the phone, I knew I made the right decision.

PROS:
*Integrated MMS/SMS Messenger
*Camera with a good resolution for a phone
*Great Display Resolution (262K WOW!!)
*Color, outside display
*Spring-Loaded flip activation
*Good Sound Quality

CONS:
*Outside display should be able to do more than act as a caller ID.
*Battery Life is moderate, could be better

Best Phone Ever!

Oct 21, 2004 by Nexteli860

I have been with nextel for about 7 years, when they were meant only for bussinesses. I have always been annoyed that they had the worst phones ever and so far behind all the other companies in terms of technology of their phones. Then the i95 came out and i knew there was hope. I've gone through i90,i95,i1000,i530,i730, and i830. And now the i860, it is by far the best phone i have ever used. The camera has great quality compared to other camera phones and it has zoom, can record 10 secs of video plus sound, and it has a light. I'm disappointed that this can't be used with the flip closed, but i'm sure that in a few months someone will make a java app to allow this. The button to open the flip is such a good idea and is really helpful. I'm just concerned that it might make the phone a little fragile. The screen on the inside is so clear and big, its so good to have a huge screen after being used to the tiny screens of the i730 and i830. The screen on the outside is great and the photo caller id is useful. The battery life isn't that good but you can buy a larger battery for about $35. If you buy this phone i recommend buying a usb data cable also. It is so usefull, i add ringtones, wallpapers, and apps for free, as opposed to buying them from nextel over the air for a lot of $$. You can put mp3's as your ringtone! Reception isn't that good but if you're already on nextel you know. Soon nextel will be changing their system from 3:1 to 6:1 so service will be better than any other provider out there, plus they're constantly building new towers all over the place. Nextel now provides the ability to send contacts and photos with the PTT to other i860 users too. If you are on nextel already you might want to get this phone but it'll cost you $350, if your transfering to nextel you should definatley get this phone, because with a 2 year agreement it is cheap. For people that want a little more technology and don't mind waiting, you should get the i930.
Buy the i860!!

Now, Nextel Users can play METAL GEAR for real

Nextel/Southern LINC users have been dying for a Camera Phone since the first bastion came out, but now Motorola responded by releasing the i860. The i860 MIGHT NOT be the best phone out, but this seems to be one of the most worthwhile iDEN Phones in the market.

The i860 is between the size of the i830 and the i730. Unlike the i830, the i860 uses the familiar battery system (with the exception of the Battery Door) found on the i730. The i860 also has a 0.3MP Camera with 10-Second Video Record. As the Camera suggests, the i860 is for those who demand MMS out of an iDEN Phone.

The drawbacks of this phone, though, is the 0.3MP Handicap (Motorola IMO could've made the i860 carry a 1.2MP Camera instead), no SD Slot, no Bluetooth (Most Nextel users are PC Users), and so-so call/standby time (it's better than the i830, but crappier than the i730). I'm hoping that these flaws will be addressed in future generation iDEN Phones, when WiDEN gets deployed.

Although the phone is somewhat kind of large for some, and though it may take people some time to get used to the phone's flip features, the i860 is overall an iDEN Phone worth buying. If you already have a Condor Flip, then I would just hold it off until the i930 comes out. Otherwise, if you have a legacy Nextel/Southern Linc Phone (i.e. i550 Plus), then the i860 might be a good move.

KICK ASS PHONE!!!

This phone is awesome nextel needs to come out with more phones like this one. I only didnt like 3 things about this phone 1) ringtones or lack thereof 2) you can't change the backround on the external lcd display and 3) no picture button for external display usage and self portraits. other than that this is definatly THE hottest phone of 2004 and the best phone for nextel period. I am a nextel authorized dealer and i had over 35 people pay for this phone before i even got it. Good job nextel keep makin more phones like this and ill keep makin money off them.

The King of Phones!!!

Oct 7, 2004 by nextelguru

I have had almost all the NEXTEL models and this one is no comparison. It may have taken NEXTEL a long time to finally get a camera phone, but they did it right!!The camera is extreamly clear for a phone (but dont expect good dark night photos) and where as i have had poor service with my i730, the call quality is crystal clear and I havent been without service yet. My only thing is that the push button flip feels fragile, but the phone feels durable. This phone is First Class! Way to go NEXTEL!!!

Best of motorola

The i860 offered by nextal and a couple of other carriers is the best motorola phone. It is a little louder then most motorola phones. It is pretty thick but the button on the side to flip up the screen is a cool fun gadget added on to the i860. It is cool and the design is okay. Not bad at all nothing expected like this from motorola. This the only good phone ever created by motorola. If they can add a couple of more features and maybe upgrade some that are already there and made it slim as a razr but more reliable and durable which picks up good reception that would be the ulimate motorola phone of all. The i860 is a little more upgraded then most motorola phones but could still use some work still to make it better. The camera is better then most of motorola's phones.
