A really disappointing phone

Jan 12, 2005 by snewoce

I just bought the LG PM-325, and the Bluetooth functionality is terrible. If this is what LG is capable of producing in the competitive mobile phone market, I wonder how bad their other products might be.

PRO:
* I like the small size, especially when closed.
* Good options to modify functionality.

CON:
* Limited options for finding entries in directory.
* Dim display with slider closed.
* Bluetooth worthless. Won't connect with my Mac or car, and with no OBEX support wouldn't sync with address book or radio dialing anyway.

What was Sprint thinking when they released this phone? That when you want good technology -- you want someone other than Sprint?

Very bad execution of a good idea

My wife and I needed to up grade our 3 year old Sprint phones. I was glad they had a blue tooth phone, THIIS NOT A BLUETOOTH ANYTHING ! Ear piece only blue tooth. I use real bluetooth on other items and it killed me that this crippled version of bluetooth is installed on this phone. I thought I would be able to send a photo to the phone or from the phone via bluetooth. Nope you have to use their $5 a month photo mail service to get anything into the phone or their internet service. I hate the stupid white seal video log on comercial you get when you turn on the phone. I'm almost 50 and it seem like more and more these stupid phones to young people only. Please give me an option of a neutral screen when turning a phone on.

Pro's:
-I like the slide to answer it's not easy but it works well for me.
-Camera works well

Cons:
-Crippled bluetooth
-Slips out of your hand easy
-All games are demo's, hell my old phone had 3 working games.
-You have no way of knowing if it's on or not without hitting a button.

Great design by poor company

I owned this phone for my last 3 months with sprint, and it may very well have been the reason for my leaving:

Pros:

-Beautiful menu lay-out
-Easy, quick interface
-Nice phone book
-Solid browser
-Head-turning, unique form-factor
-Reliable OS
-Great vibrate
-Very small
-Good key-locking function

Cons:
-HORRIBLE reception
-" keys (keys would jump to other menus, opening other functions unintentionally, very annoying.
-Cheap feeling
-Poor sound quality
-Crippled blue-tooth
-Crippled speaker-phone, WHY?
-Not-so-great battery

Over all, a very cheap, poorly made, unfinished phone, and enough to make me switch to GSM.

POS, IMO

PROS: Cute, flashy, compact, easy to carry, great for pocket (no antenna), nice menu presentation.

CONS: Just about everything else. The primary function of a phone is to make and receive calls; in my experience this phone is a POS in that department. This phone fails calls and send incoming straight to voicemail due to poor reception more often than any phone I have ever owned. On the rare occasion when my old Sanyo 8100 would fail a call, it always retried it and was able to connect on a subsequent try...this dumb little bugger just FAILS. I don't care HOW nice the phone looks, if it can't make and receive calls reliably, what good is it? I'm fighting with Sprint right now to take it off my hands. Also, I will add that the slide ergonomic just doesn't work for me. Thumbprints all over the screen, unintended closing, awkward holding position, etc., etc., etc. Don't buy this phone unless you live under a cell site and never leave home.

Want Bluetooth? Try something else.

I recently purchased a new car with blue tooth capability. Wanting to use the functionality, I purchased this phone. Well, hands free it isn't. I was stuck dialing with the handset and hanging up with the handset. You also couldn't answer a call other than the with handset. When I though I'd just go back to my old headset, I found that the external headset jack doesn't work. All around it was very disappointing.

Crippled Bluetooth

Phone is pretty good/compact size, but I'm getting sick of having to purchase ringers from Sprint and should have checked into the fact that Bluetooth was crippled with this phone before purchasing. Won't make that mistake when this contract is up.

Stay Away

I was so looking forward to this phone! I got it today and it is going back tonight. You can't link to a computer to exchange address or phone number information or send this to another bluetooth phone. Do You Play Games??? I hope not. It won't play most of the games in my content manager that I paid for. STAY AWAY. :( STAY FAR AWAY. If all you look for is a phone with bluetooth headset this phone may be for you. But Why buy a bluetooth phone that does not do what blue tooth should do?
