Lg-5100

I have to say this phone is very confusing. I download a ring tone from Zingy and it saved it in my folder under sounds. I cannot get it to go to my settings/sounds so it can be a ring tone. The phone has great feature's if you're a rocket scientist. If any one knows how to put this as my ring-tone please e-mail me at [...]. Other than that the phone is very nice but I have to get used to it.

Ed. note: removed personal contact info

i got this phone from at&t through the at&t web site,PROs it has cool colors very nice to look at,is very lite weight, has a nice color display inside and a blue display out side for caller id and date, time.is very easy to use and fig out even if you don't read the manual(you should always read the owners manual)takes great pictures has room for 6-8 at max res.if i want more i use my digital camera the phone camera is for the suprise shots that i did not expect.has vibrate at both ends of the vol.vol&vib and then just before silent is vib again by its self.ringtones that come with it is ok,i downloaded cool ones from (3gupload.com).ok now the cons battery life is only about 36 to 48 hrs if you use it but hey thats why i have a car charger.

Good starter phone

Pros: lightweight, easy to navigate around the functions, good clear display, nice access to internet, great color spectrum on display, good spacing on the keys. Also, very decent camera and options for the camera.

Cons: not good in rural areas, communication is difficult through the earpiece, does not transfer between towers as well as other gsm phones, sometimes difficult to understand others, only way to get pictures off is through mms (multi-media service), infrared is compatible with nothing I have found so far.

Overall, I would say this is a good phone for the kid away at school who wants a cool looking gadgety phone. It is low cost, is reliable in the city and has a decent camera. For the pro considering this phone, you may find yourself disappointed, as I was, when the phone does not live up to your hopes. LG, what does that infrared do? It does not seem to be compatible with anything.

Not Impressed

I purchased this phone from at&t wireless. I got good reception, even inside my house in the chicagoland area. However, I heard a slight echo through the earpiece after I spoke. The phone itself felt flimsy and battery life was poor. I got about 45 minutes of talk time and I played with the camera a little bit.

undecided

I've had the phone for a week and in all fairness haven't read the entire inst. book phone is a business phone, appointments, etc., so I use it a lot (but no games, text, e-mail, didn't need camera ...(picked phone for "newest connection technology)).
Disappointed in ring tone selection, options are funky or too quiet, vibrate useless (with highest setting) when in purse or another room (had a LG VX4500, spoiled by the options of that phone, perfect phone book listing options, ringtones....sigh, too bad that carrier had "no service"). Same problem for voice-mail alert, no option to pick a ring tone, a few tones to pick from, all short and quiet, don't want "loud", but I need to hear it and recognize it. Phone book entries easy but display not informative enough (little icons for home/cell/office (VX showed all contact options), only three alternatives for each name, sometimes lets me enter a long name, sometimes not, shows name/numbers with large spaces between so you have to scroll to see them all, search is really slow...you can scroll (also slow) in the same time. "Missed" and "Received" call list awkward as well, VX4500 display and availability of information/ease of calling from information was much better. I get dropped bits of words (phone or carrier?) every third or fourth call.
On the positive, offers a "blank" (no silly back round pictures) screen! Sound is good/excellent, except for the occasional lost words, voice quality is excellent and clients sometimes mention hearing every sound around me, so very clear on their side too (no pretending I'm still at work).
Twice it didn't "end" when I selected and has done a few other odd things, going back to see what my other phone options are today but I could live with this if I don't find anything with better ringtones or a more sensible phone book.

This phone has horrible reception! No flash for pics at night, and you cannot send pictuers via e-mail. You have to send them as a MMS. I took my phone back....
