Great Phone

Mar 26, 2005 by potatobong

I had Verizon before switching over to Cingular and trying this phone. I have had many phones before, but this is my first Nokia. It has tons of features and has a great size. I had one problem with using generic MMC cards, but I just needed to keep reseting the phone and then it detected it. Nokias seem to get the best reception for Cingular, and this is no exception. Great phone, and not a bad price either.

Amazing little phone!

Wow. I am constantly amazed by what this phone does and has the potential to do. I was upgrading from the Nokia 6560 (which was nice, except for the lack of support with download-able content with ATT ). Since both phones support infrared, transferring all my information was a breeze.

Only a few complaints though...
The phone doesn't support SD cards, only the MMC. Not a big deal, but the extra support would have been nice.

I also have been having problems with the phone resetting periodically. I've been told a simple firmware update will do the trick but I have yet to do that.

Finally, I wish the battery life would have been a bit better. Using the phone as an mp3 player or using it for games eats up the battery significantly more than I'd like. Again, nothing big but it would have been nicer for a more powerful battery.

Overall though, this phone was well worth the money spent.

The two most important qualities in a phone to me are call quality and reception...this phone excels at both.

Pros:
--Size.
--Call Quality.
--Reception.
--Speaker Phone.
--Blue tooth.
--Ease of use.
--Battery life.

Cons:
--Screen could be larger.

Excellent phone!

This is one of the best phone's I've ever had. It is packed full of features in a small package. Definitely get this if you need a great phone-centric device(ie. not an afterthought like some pda-phones).

Pros:
*Bluetooth- works flawlessly with my PC, Mac and headset.
*Camera- great quality for a VGA camera, very clear.
*Audio quality- great, no hissing like some of the other 62xx series phones.
*Multimedia- Radio, MP3s, video.
*Series 40 version 2- It's no Series 60, but it's definitely a step up.

Cons:
*Covers- The back cover is pretty hard to get off.
*Memory- the included 32mb is nice, but 64 or 128 would have been a better for music.

Perfect Phone

This phone is absolutely perfect and has everything you could ever need or want. I previously owned a Nokia 6200 which was great. The 6230, however, is far superior. First of all the build quality of the phone is superb as are most Nokias. It has a very solid feel. The buttons also have a very nice solid feel to them when pressed. Reception is great and is even with or slightly better than the 6200. I love the capability of listening to mp3s and the included stereo headphones sound great. The phone even has a graphic equalizer! The phone is very quick to respond and I have noticed absolutely zero lack in response time to any function. Even though my 6200 and this phone both have EDGE internet this 6230 seems almost twice as fast. I could go on and on, but it would take forever to express how great this phone is. As a matter of fact the only con I have found so far is the five way button. It is sometimes hard to choose something because you have to press it straight down and sometimes you accidentally hit up or down instead. But trust me that's a very minor thing and I have gotten used to it.

Overall, a great phone and a definite must have!!!

Great Performer!!!

And that's what most of us want most in a phone. The ability to use features as they were intended.

The battery life seems good to me. I have not talked on it much(v600 won't let go of my unlimited talking sim), but I leave it on 24/7 with Btooth on and it has lasted 4 days. Remember, you get best batt life after 3 FULL discharge/charge.

I have connected to my Axim5 via Bluetooth as high as 88kbs so far.

Pros:

*Bluetooth is flawless- made three trusts, turned off visibility and all trusted devices can communicate whenever asked to. Have only used pc, v600 and Axim5 to connect with, no headset or handsfree yet.

* Quick response- flies through menu and requests to open folders.

Cons:

*Menu button- somewhat difficult to master, I'm sure time will cure.

*Screen- still does not match level of phone.

*Power button- yeah, I know, quick touch for profiles. But turning off and on can be a liitle challenging. The 6340i is easier to manipulate.

Overall:

Substance over style, a true techie's dream.

pros: bluetooth, expandable memory "so far you can use a 1mb card" i have a 256mb mmc and have some tv shows and videos ,and lots of full length mp3`s on it . sound quality ,size, fast os, phonebook, screen quality inside and outside,

cons: none yet!!!!!!

Worth the money

I went to my local Cingular store and saw they had one of these on display and decided to get it. Upgraded at my 6th month and got it for $250 - $50 rebate.

Pros:
Camera quality is great
Battery life is very nice
Fits perfectly in my pocket
Radio is very clear
Charges fast
Simple to use
The MMC card is nice
Faceplates
Bluetooth
IR

Cons:
Alarm is too quiet
Back is a little hard to get off

I know faceplates are normally are tacky, but when you get the solid color ones. If its a some vibrant color its fine with me. Battery is very important, my 6820 had horrible battery life. Call quality is excellent.

There may be more things that might arise and bug me a little, but the major things I need are there.

Hopefully this helps someone decide to get this or not.
