Excellent Value, Excellent OS, Easy to use

Oct 26, 2013 by Endogenous-i

I purchased this phone for my mother as her first smartphone, for her birthday, for $200 cash from Walmart on StraightTalk, without any contract.

I was not expecting to be impressed by this Huawei W1, but instead as I set it up, downloaded a few apps, and helped my mother for a few days, I was impressed and then truly amazed.

This phone is easily better to use then my Galaxy S3, and WindoowsPhone is far easier to use than Android, and a much better value than Apple.

This Huawei W1 is a solid device, good for doing all the usual tasks like Phone calls, Text, Camera, Email, Internet, Skype, Maps, Search, etc...

I especially liked the high-capacity removable/replaceable battery (full charge lasted a couple of days of basic use), and the memory card expansion slot (add a $15 16GB card for pics). The screen is bright and easy to read. Speakerphone was loud and sounded good.

The screen is 'Apple sized',SO if you want a giant screen look elsewhere, however the smaller screen and high-cap battery give this Huawei W1 excellent 2day battery life, like apple (which is superior to Android everything).

Pictures looked good. The dedicated Camera shutter button, provides one touch camera access (a great feature every phone should have). My mother liked that she could just touch the camera button to activate the camera app and grap a quick baby pic (what could be simpler?). The Camera woks very well, easy and simple.

Facebook is integrated into the OS, so you don't need an app for that. Skype worked great, a little grainier b/c the front camera is only 0.3 MP vga and needs good lighting, but fine for casual use. Download 'HERE Drive' to get turn by turn navigation.

If you care about Value, this is a great phone for the $$, probably the best value of any phone currently out there, and WindowsPhone OS is excellent.
