My Favorite Phone

Jun 26, 2013 by VernL4

Pros:

Beautiful screen, great camera, good battery life.

Cons:

Sometimes the unlock screen is just a simple swipe and not the unlock pattern that I have set.

My previous phone was a Samsung Captivate, so that is the only Android comparison I have. The Sony has only locked up twice in the year that I've had it. The Samsung was at least twice a day! The battery life in the Sony is much better- I usually have 30 to 40% left when I go to bed at night.

It's an excellent phone. Sony makes a great product.

This thing is awful. I thought I was upgrading from the Samsung Focus (Windows Phone) when I got this. For one thing, the battery is terrible. I'm sure that's true for all androids, but if that's the case then I don't know how anyone has put up with this OS. I'm afraid of using this phone for any longer than 3 minutes at time because the battery will drain right in front of my eyes. It is SO inconvenient to have to lug the charger with me anywhere. Anyone who buys this phone will only get 1.5 hours of battery life before you have have to juice this thing up again. I'm probably going to get another phone.

There really aren't any pluses to this phone. If you get amped up about the camera, DON'T. The pause between focusing the lens and taking the pic is ridiculously long. There are no ringer profiles, which is something I think should be standard on all phones.

Also, I should point out that the android marketplace (rebranded as google play) only has one advantage over windows marketplace, which is Instagram. The majority of the android market is cluttered with apps that are full of ads or do not work very smoothly.

In all, I would tell everyone to simply go with a windows phone. It is a much more streamlined OS. Android 4.0 is highly unimpressive, and leaves a lot to be desired, and this is only exacerbated by the poor specs of the Sony Xperia TL. I don't know why Motorola is the only phone manufacturer who seems to have gotten this battery problem under control.
