Great TDMA phone - excellent "cool" factor

Apr 7, 2004 by jevid

I've only had this phone for one week, but I really like it. I replaced a 3560 with it. The 3560 is a very good phone, but I found it a bit basic. Overall, the 6560 is a great, fun TDMA phone. As a previous reviewer stated, if you don’t live in an area where GSM is good yet, and you want to upgrade your phone, this is a great option. You get most of the goodies that GSM phones have had for a while, and the solid coverage of TDMA.

6560 Pros:
-Size & weight: It's light, yet comfortable & easy to hold on to.
-While the keys are smaller, I have big hands and don’t find them difficult to work at all.
-The screen is very bright, but like most color phones, harder to read in bright sun. That said, the clock screen saver is easier to read than on my 3560.
-The ability to upload ringtones, graphics & midlets/games with the data cable. I'm having fun with this!
-Sound - while I don't think the sound quality is quite as good as the 3560, the volume is louder. I don't have to fiddle with the phone location to find out where to hold it up against my ear. It’s much easier to hear callers
-Infrared – this is so great! Brought over all my phone numbers from my Palm Pilot. I love this feature.
-Speakerphone. It sounds like a speakerphone, but is very handy for talking & writing at the same time.
-Pop-port connector: I like this. Some people have complained about it, but I don’t find the headset difficult to put it, and, it doesn’t pull out as easily as the older style.
-The “Go to” feature. This is an excellent idea.

6560 Cons:
-The keys are shiny silver. I find them a bit difficult to read with the backlight on. I have to angle the phone a bit to read the letters/numbers. Not a huge deal.
-Not a huge number of aftermarket accessories yet, but I’m sure they will come.
-No PC suite yet –although I emailed Nokia, and they claim it will be released “very soon.” In the meantime, you can use Mobimb to put midlets/ringtones/graphics on the phone.

ok phone, poor value

i've always been pretty happy with nokia, and they've always seemed to provide the best TDMA coverage in my area, but i'm afraid i'll switch brands after trying out a 6560.

at it's price point, one would expect a slightly more professionaly built package.

the speaker phone is absolutely great, i will admit, but the construction of the phone, as well as the lack of any PC Suite, tell me that it's just junk.

straight from the box, i put the battery into the phone, then the front AND rear detachable faceplates on, and voila! it began jiggling and rattling on it's very first day. compound that with no ability to sync with Outlook, and i believe you've back in the 90's.

that said, the antenna, signal, battery, and usability is great, just great, but not for 150 dollars.

Looks Good

I've had my phone for 5 days now and it's been great. I was originally looking for a GSM phone, but this is a great alternative for TDMA.

Pros:
Good Color Screen
Phone Book groups & options
reception in the Idaho area
Alarm
Text Messaging - Predictive Text
Voice Command
Menu Functions
Voice Recorder

Cons:
No PC sync for now, and the outlook isn't that great either for one
Too new to find accessories
Ring Tones (Okay)
Can't adjust how long Backlight stays on
Games (I only play Triple Pop)

Great phone...

This phone is the best TDMA phone on the market. Screen is great, battery life is great, form factor is great.

- I don't have a problem with the "creakiness"
- You CAN download things to the phone using LogoManager and infrared (such as ringtones, wallpaper, pictures, etc.)

Best TDMA phone...will keep me from GSM for a while.

No Problems Here!

If people were having trouble with there phone and downloading ringtones and wallpaper, It was just probably AT&T cuz I have this phone through T-Mobile and i downaloaded my heart out on this Nokia.

This phone did everything! I didn't care for the nav key.... it was small & the keys were just a tad too soft to call.\
