Why do Nokia, Radio Shack, Sprint

May 2, 2004 by madatnokia

The phone features FM radio but it is only possible with the head set add on not included in purchase price.

This is the classic bait and switch so you must continue to add items to get the full service from your phone!

Why the heck Nokia wouldn't have the market savy to include the head set in the purchase price so that the FM actually works is just plain dumb.

I will prolly take this phone back after the short battery life and inability to access the feature without more & expensive add ons.

Nokia et al better find another three legged pig to eat b/c this ones gonna hobble out of their life!! lol

Not bad at all.......

A few notes....(mini review)

1. This phone is incredibly small!
2. Doesn't appear to support QCP/voice ringers. I get a "MIME Type Not Supported" error when trying to download one.
3. Each person cannot have their own downloaded ringer; it MUST be from the built-in ringers. Really sucks.
4. It appears to be alot clearer than the 5500 earpiece-wise.
5. Battery life seemds decent so far, but I'm glad I ordered an additional. So far I've completely discharged it in the 5 hours when I 1st activated it and yesterday (a full day).
6. Ringers again - they sound like they're barely 16-chord.
7. Screen is kinda small for use on Vision, but it's pretty good.
8. I can still view the screen even in direct sunlight.
9. Ringers again - they're pretty loud...even downloaded ones! With almost every other phone I have to put it on high, but this one it's on whatever the default is (I think 4) but I'll prolly turn it down some more, which leads me to...
10. VIBRATE ON ANY RINGER LEVEL!
11. PC SYNC is wonderful! All of my contacts beamed over from my laptop in less than a minute!
12. A little inconvinience...battery and signal strength are only visible when you're at the main screen. If you're doing anything else like playing a game or even on Vision, you can't monitor these items.
13. Kinda strange.... one day the phone was just sitting and "Sprint service unavailable" kept coming on the screen and a checkbox with a green check inside, but the phone still had about 4 signal bars. It could still make and receive calls as well.... hmm....
14. Today the phone wouldn't launch vision....after a power cycle it was fine.
15. If you receive a text message while doing something else, the tone will go off but you can't see the message unless you exit from what you were doing.

I ended up returning this phone primarily because of the poor battery life and Vision isn't that great on it. It frequently times out and won't work until a power-cycle is performed.

Nokia 6225 is a Reliable Phone

Apr 23, 2005 by sixsevennupe

I have been a "Nokia man" ever since I started using cell phones. The Nokia 6225 is an extremely reliable phone.

-good reception (very few dropped calls)
-menu is easy to use and navigate
-nice size color screen
-great battery life..I recharge it after two days of use
-camera is ok (I know there are a lot better camera phones on the market, but I bought the phone for other qualities other than camera

I am sorry that Sprint decided to discontinue selling this particular model. The carrier I work for now, doesn't offer a wide selection of Nokias (just the 6015)...but the Nokia 6225 would be a welcome addition to their line up.

6225 Camera Has No PC Connectivity

Jun 18, 2004 by Dad

I like this a lot but the battery life is one of two problems.
I am now slightly Dissapointed that the Nokia Suite software does not connect the Camera and allow you to copy or upload the pictures straight to the pc via a data cable.
So it seems the ole pay more for the picture pack scam is on.

When the camera is FULL it only holds about 25 or so pics. You can NOT copy them to the phones memory. which has 2.5megs

So your picture id's will be limited Unless u convert pictures from the pc to the phone memory.
I must pay to E-mail my pics to my home pc then convert the pics to the phone memory.

DKU-5 Data cable was $26.90 online plus shipping.

Great phone... mostly

May 7, 2004 by lmw626

This is my first Nokia and the first phone that I have taken the time to review.

I have to agree this is a great phone in almost every respect buyers should be aware the battery life is no where near the 10 day digital standby that both Nokia and Sprint PCS claim. I'm getting an average of 3-4 days.

I ordered the phone during the first week of March through tele-sales, received it April 9th. I immediately locked it on digital service and within the first week I didn't even use it at all except to enter phone book numbers. That week the battery completely drained twice. Since there were no reviews out at the time, I assumed it was defective and got Sprint to first replace the battery, with the same results, and then finally got them to send me a replacement phone. I've had it two days and have already determined the new one is exactly the same.

Another issue is that the battery display is very deceptive. It seems to drop only to the halfway mark then stops. The battery continues to drain but the display still shows half-charge. Then without warning it's dead.

I'm not a cell phone "power-user" who is in the habit of charging my phone every night but it looks like I'm going to have to start with this Nokia.

If not for the poor battery life/display, I would give this phone 5 stars.

Good, but could be better.

I had had this phone for a couple months now. Over all it has been a great phone. I have little to no problems with the phone. Some providers have made it so you can not take the pics off the phone to PC. My provider did not do this. I think it is dumb to make so you have to use there service. I am with ACS here in Alaska.

Pro for Me:
Reception - The reception on this phone is the best I have had. I have yet to drop a call.
Data - IR and Data cable ready.

Con for Me:
Feel - The only reason I did not give this phone a 5.0 is that the case is loose. It feels a little cheap. The battery cover is loose and makes noise when held.
Speaker Phone - Work's but not very loud. Could have been better.
Camera - Works well but could be better. Not the best pics. But it is a phone..
Sound - There is a hiss when you are on a call. It is not to bad but it is there.

In the end if you just need a phone that gets the job done when it comes to making calls, you will be happy with it.

I love it

i love this phone. i am 14 and i understand this phone better than my parents and some of the people who have review it.

Pros
1 Great reception even at girl scout camp at shingobee timbers and trust me you wouldnt get reception there even with any new phone, my parents have the latest phones and they dont work up there.. this one works even in the awful storms.
2 the internet reception is good
3 never dropped a call
4 hear the other person perfectly, even on low when the busses are leaving
5 the ringers are loud and a high vibrator
6 small and fits in my pocket
7 is about 4 years old works almost perfecly
has been through the washing machine 2x
the sink 3x
dropped from the 2 story building
dropped from my hands
left in the rain, snow, lake
(yea i was kinda irresponsible with it)
8 the battery is amazing (compared to what its been through
9 battery life was about 1.5 days with talking (originally)
10 after all its been through talk for 4 hours
11 txt for 6
12 go online about 2
(some people have been saying that it keeps you logged online at all times, well you have to go to menu then #4, which is LOG OFF INTERNET... ok that is mainly what i wanted to say about the net thing)
14 VERY durable

cons

1 picture quality (not why i got it)
2 doesnt have video recording, (wasnt available at the time so stop whining about that)
3 voice recording not so great (was the "new" thing then)
4 only stores about 216 messages
5 radio needs earpiece (most do)
6 ITS GONE!!!

okay i mainly came her because i need a new phone.... i dont want to get rid of this one but it has been through so much and we just dont think it can last another year. we were just going to buy a new battery but low and behold it is disscontinued. :'(
so i know this is prolly agains the "Terms and Conditions" for me to put this in here but, if anyone has any really good suggestions on a small sanyo phone, please help me decide. i want something cheap, small, sanyo. plz!

pretty good phone

Dec 10, 2004 by chemical85

I am the proud new owner of the nokia 6225 and got it because i was tired of flip phones and gave the nokia a chance.
good comments - very small and lightweight, all features are great for it to be such a small phone. I love it.

not so good comments- the dial pad numbers would be very small for people with large and thick fingers, I'm happy. i even tried changing the dial-pad and the moment my first phone call came in; the person on the other side could not even understand me because my voice was coming out all muffled so don't even try buying another dial-pad.
it is true that once you are one the phone for a while, the battery charge goes quickly and gives you a quick beep before it goes out, i mean within seconds

besides that, i love my new phone, pretty cool looking and elegant style and would be happy to recommend this phone to anyone...

Very kool

Oct 14, 2004 by jd627

This phone is pretty kool i like it a lot it is my 7th phone and i am 14. i like it alot. Now let me tell you some pros/cons....

Cons: Screen resolution could be better, It doesnt support the music ringtones from sprint, doesnt support high graphic games, and vision is kinda small but its ok.

pros: camera, ringer profiles, camera, small:), interchangable faceplates, radio, to do list always coming in handy for me.

and i think those are the highlights of the phone.
Oh just in case u were woundering my phone b4 this was a sanyo 8100 and i like that one alot two but it was time for a change.

Great Phone for talking and hearing, who knew

Sep 5, 2004 by oogman

PROs: The phone is small but to small, so it fits in you pockets nicely. I love the rings, these you can hear, I have downloaded songs before, and most sound like crap and you can't hear them when there is a lot of noise. Nokia new what they were doing when they built this phone. the hiss noise is not noise it is music to my ears. I know that the call has not dropped and I am not talking to my self for 15 min. It is not noise it assurance. It is not irritating or bothersome it just let you know your talking to someone. The sound is crystal clear. The reception is the best I have had yet. I have owned 4 PCS phone and I am sold on nokia. The speakerphone sound is awesome I have owned two other phones with speakerphone this one sounds the best. If you want a phone that works and sounds great this is the phone for you. I like the profile custom settings for pager, normal, meeting, silent and outdoor. You can customize the rings in each category ex. Voice mail, text msg, calls for each profile. You can change the faceplates; keypad colors etc. no antenna to deal with. The reception is superb

CONs. The speed dial does not show the name until after you hit the call button. I hope this is fixable. There is more menu option you have to go threw than other phones I have had. (Learning curve) be sure to read the manual, lot of tips (ooooh, cool) I haven't had an issue with the battery.
