No "Unknown Source" option

Mar 18, 2011 by JoeFT

ATT has had HTC to not install the "Unknown Sources" option in Setting for installing apps. This means you will be unable to install independent apps that are not sold through the Android Market or the ATT store. This restricts you to the Android Market much like the iPhone is restricted to the Apple itunes store. You will not have access to any apps that are developed for unique purposes in the future.

Great Phone..

Jul 17, 2012 by Brian

I have it for two weeks and has been excellent.

Everything described in the description of the phone is what I saw. An excellent phone, from applications to the release has been wonderful. I can do more with this phone than with a iPhone. This phone does it all - almost. a great screen large enough to show movies with great definition. the camera and video camera both are great. The programs and applications offered are just amazing. The programs and responsiveness are good. You don't have to wait forever for applications to load up. I recommend it.

Ps. I purchased it on Amazon : http://bit.ly/HTCInspire4G

Love this phone but Poor Battery

Jun 3, 2012 by orlavin

The HTC Inspire 4G for AT&T is Amazing!!! Truely love this phone. The camera is awesome! The processor is very fast. No lagging. Clear calls and loud speaker.

The Battery is the biggest issue on this phone. It will die on you very fast. Expect to charge it 2-3 times a day. With heavy use, it will die within 4 hours after a complete charge. With moderate use, expect the phone to die within 5 hours. Light use to stand by will get you at most 6 hours. And this is having Wifi, Bluetooth OFF and No Video Watching.

The other negative, which to me is not that big of a deal, is the front facing camera.

Other than that, the phone is a great phone and worth getting!

Not the happiest camper

This was my first smart phone so I'm going off of what I've seen from other people's phones and what I have experienced in the retail store I work in.

Pros:
- Great screen
- It's fast when it works! I'll cover this more later
- easy to use
- easy to learn

Cons:
- Battery life (depending on you!) can be a bit of a problem at times. I say depending on you because some days I will only be using the phone to text and it lasts all day all night. Other times if I use the phone for music or navigation or browsing, the battery is shot and only lasts me 3/4 of the day.

- Freezes... I've had this phone freeze on me more times than my computer ever has! I've had to reboot my phone many times and it's usually when I need it the most. My least favorite thing to do is reset it while I'm driving somewhere while using the navigation feature.

- Lost calls yeah this depends on your area but one minute I'll have great service driving in and the next minute I'll drop a call. I'll look at my phone and I go from bars to 3 bars within milliseconds. I've lost so many phone calls.

It's an okay phone but not a great phone and for that I give it a rating of 2

not the best

I has the Samsung infuse but after a week took it back and fit the inspire. This will also be going back. After a week of having the phone it froze and would not do anything for 5-10 minutes. Finally it turned off. I am not impressed with this phone. Battery life on it sucks. I know it is a smart phone but after having it charged all nite it should not start to lose battery couple hours after unplugging it from charger. When talking on the phone it echoes so you hear yourself. Camera is great but I will not be getting anymore HTC phone.

Pros
Fast
Camera is great

Cons
Battery is not good
Freezes

HTC Inspire : Good stuff? NOT really

Dec 23, 2011 by jongonzalez716705

this phone is the WORST phone i have ever purchased. i have had it for a year and let me tell you... #1 THE BATTERY IS SLOW. after using 2GB of memory, when i turn it on, it now takes 2.5 to 5 Min's to start up. the good thing bout it is that it takes AMAZING photos and Video. i have dropped it like 29 times and it never broke or shattered screen or scratched. well my friend pushed me in a lake when it was in my pocket and it got major water damage and the screen is ABSOLUTELY frozen. well I'm thinking of getting the Samsung Infuse 4G or the Blackberry Torch 9810. I still haven't chosen which phone my Friend will buy me

HTC Inspire 4G

I purchase this phone about two weeks after the phone was released to the public. I went from the RIM 8520 to this phone. I had done a lot of research into this phone before i purchase it, even talked with the warranty department for HTC, (cause I work with some of them) and this phone came highly recommended by everyone in the industry.

When I first had the phone it was before the high speed upload speed were allow and also before the OS update was release. Occasionally I would have issue with the audio not working, but that was easily fixed by just rebooting the phone. Other then that before the OS switch nothing to really complain about.

Once the OS update came out on the phone that has changed things a little. First started out that the caller ID's on the text messages would take a long time to load or would not show up at all, that has gotten a little better with time. Then I started having issue with the phone not fully waking up from standby mode(IE the back light will come on but the display would not come up) and also some stability issue with programs and the OS of the phone.

So over all the phone is some pretty good hardware but the OS still has some bugs in the works. Excellent phone, but if you really don't care about the warranty on the phone that it will be a great phone because you can Root the phone over to a different OS system and then you will see drastic improvements in the phone. I still have a couple months left on my warranty so I am holding off and I might also look into go up to the updated version of this phone the HTC Vivid, not because I dont like this phone is just that the phone has the LTE where are this phone just has the HSPA+ connectivity, but now that you can get this as a free phone so it is the biggest bang for your buck, I would and have recommended this phone to many people.

Enjoy

A Really Nice Phone with a Few Small Kinks

Dec 8, 2011 by rnpeek01

Overall I am very impressed with the inspire. This is a huge step up from my previous from, and I am very happy with all of the interesting things it has to offer.

Pros:
-Like others have said, the screen is huge
-It is incredibly fast, it can download apps in under 30 seconds
-The camera is excellent- wonderful resolution
-It has plenty of room for apps and there are so many neat apps for free on the android market
-Large storage space
-It is very customizable, so you can really make the phone unique

Cons:
-The battery life is rather short (put if you charge it every night it should be fine)
-It likes to synch everything to your contact list (facebook friends, gmail contacts) even when you specifically tell it not to. And its impossible to get rid of the unwanted contacts unless you delete all other customizations to the phone.
-Its frozen a few times, and I was forced to take out the battery
-The speak phone isn't loud enough to be really efficient
-The phone has a tendency to be really touchy and it can call people sometimes when I don't mean for it to.

Overall, this phone was totally worth the minor kinks that I have had with it. If you are wanting a phone with super fast internet speed and great quality apps this is the phone for you. If you wanting to use this phone for basic calling purposes, you may want to look elsewhere.

Phone too buggy

Nov 1, 2011 by mrhondo

I like Android OS but this HTC Inspire 4G is full of weirds things to put up with.
CONS
-Just reboots once in a while by itself
-I can't get it to see the HTC Sync on my pc
-Phone really needs to be rebooted about every 2 days, if it doesn't do it by itself
-Very power hungry, have a charger at work, next to my bed and next to my chair in living room
-Ring-tones change back and forth (if you set custom ones for some people)
-HTC Sense restarts itself all the time and getting worse
-Ring-tones are too soft, missing calls all the time... and the vibrate isn't much better

PROs
-Great screen
-Love the choice of apps
-I like better than my iPhone

Bottom line, I like the phone but all the issues make it real hard to keep liking. I would like to try a different brand of phone with Android, not sold on HTC.

Just OK

Oct 30, 2011 by kristiemonroe

I have had this phone for about 6 months and I am really not attached it at all. The reception is not as good as the Aria. 4G has yet to impress me. The screen is huge (which is why I bought it) so I can actually type. The ringer is low and changes ringtones by itself. When the updgrade to Gingerbread rolled out, the phone became VERY buggy. The camera will stop functioning and I have to remove the battery (which is hard due to the horrible location). The music player is buggy; when you use stereo headphones it tries to place calls. This is fixed by shutting the phone off and rebooting. I would root this phone (like I did my Aria) but I love HTC Sence UI. I am waiting to upgrade in Nov. and will probablu try out a Samsung smartphone.
