good phone, good service, one flaw

Jan 23, 2005 by guero

Very pleased with this phone. Sound quality great, service area good. One problem I have had is with the outside LED. dust particles are getting in between the glass and the LED. Enough so that in daylight you can barely see through for time or caller ID. No help from Verizon or LG with this problem. It may just be a problem with the one phone I have as I havent seen anyone else have this problem.

A good LG phone

I have to say that I'm impressed w/ the 4500 so far. I've sold a lot of them and every time I check back w/ a customer they have nothing but good things to say about the phone. I live in Kansas and there are alot of rural areas where its hard to get a good signal but so far the 4500 has had good reception. I tried mine in Manhattan Ks which has in the past been one of out "roughest" areas, and was able to make and receive calls and text w/ out any problems at all.

Pros: good reception and very clear calls
Driving mode and speaker phone is a great feature.

Cons. Outside caller ID isn't digital like the 6000
Calender feature is placed in a weird spot but its still there.

Great Phone -- Exceeds My Expectations

This is a solid phone. I've had it for two weeks now and I have really nothing to complain about. The phone is much better than I thought it would be. The only things that I am not completely satisfied with is that the speaker phone gets a little distorted at high volumes. The screen is adequate. I'm not sure why people have complained so much about it. I also think the phone looks great and don't mind the Jay-Lo butt on it. Due to the shape it seems to fit really well into the hands of the user.

PROS: Size (nice and slim)
Battery Life
Speaker Phone
Reception
Sound quality (definitely loud)
LG Software (best in the business IMO)

CONS: Speaker can get distorted at high volume
Screen could be just a little sharper.

Great job LG. I will be a happy user for a number of years.

LG VX4500

I have carried this phone now for 14 days. The voice activation is great! I am not sure that there is a speaker phone that works with the flip closed. That would be nice. The speaker is nice and loud. Very clear on both ends!!! The outer LDC not being color, big deal. I have to agree with others. The inter LDC is nothing like the LG VX6000, but when you are on your phone you can't see it anyway. Charging indicator would be really nice but, red its charging and green it is finished. I love the fact that it tells me the name of person calling or the number that is calling! Different ring tones are nice but I have to stop to think. Who has the tone and wrong most of the time. The Web Browser is very different! Will take time playing with it to get use to. Over all, have to say pretty good phone!

Pros:
Speaker, Voice Indicator!!! Loud and Clear! Still easy to use. Adding to your phone book! ALL you contacts are Voice Dialing!! All you do is add them.

Cons:
Charging Indicator, Inter Display.

Have fun and enjoy!!!!!

I love this phone!

Having worked for VZW for over a year now as a technician, I see the bad and good of each model we sell.

PRO'S -

The 4500 is the best value for the money it costs to purchase by far. Great voice recognition even without training. Nearly flawless after training. Plus, there is a software update that upgrades the VR and other initial release bugs. Just got to your local VZW retail store that has techs and get it flashed. You never have to worry about missing a call because the speaker can be painfully loud if set on high. Pressing the SEND button once will bring up the last 30 calls, in or out, which is very nice.

Cons -

Can get warm after a couple of minutes surfing a GIN application. Phone will show no service for a split second sometimes when placing a call(should be cleared up in software update, but my cable here in the store needs to be replaced so I have not been able to get the update yet.) Not compatible(yet) with some GIN apps that give you real songs for ringtones.(The MIDI version of WALK by Pantera and all METAL songs just makes me ill.) I've read that some people were having problems with it. If you mass produce a coupple hundred thousand of something..some are gonna be bad. That's life.

Overall, I love this phone. It does everything I need and more. The best bang for your buck IMHO.

Almost right

Well, I love this phone. The size fits my hand and my needs perfectly. I have large hands, and the slight teardrop shape makes this small puppy feel more secure.

I only have one gripe: When I'm on the phone, using the normal earpiece, and I adjust the volume with the side buttons, it does not stay adjusted! Wierdest thing I've ever seen. Within 2-3 seconds, the volume jumps (or drops) to where it was! I have to find the OK button to make it stick throughout that phone call. In the >15 years I've been using cell phones, I've never used one that would not simply accept the adjustment on the side buttons. Unless I got a defect?

So Far a Good Phone

I have had this phone for about a month and have never had any problems with it. The reception is very good and despite what other people have said in previous reviews the speaker phone is very loud and very clear. Even though this phone lacks a camera it has everything else that you would need in a phone. I would say try it out because Verizon has a 14 day trial on all of their phones.

LG 4500 Speaker phone

Mar 8, 2004 by Shalkast1

For those of you who own the LG 4500, the speaker phone will work with the phone closed. It is not the easiest and most convenient, but it will work.

Plug your headset into the phone and make a call. Make sure the speaker phone is in the on position. Proceed to close the phone and then pull out the headset. The speaker phone will still be active.

Happy Phoning!

Great Phone

So far I have been very happy with this phone even though I have only had it for 24 hrs.

I upgraded from an LG510 wich was good as well but did not give good signal at my house. The VX4500 gives me better signal and I can finaly use the phone at home as well.

I also like all the features, how ever as many have said the only complaint would be that the speaker only work when phone is opened.

Great phone and especially when updated.

Phone works great and I recently had the software update installed by Verizon and it makes the phone even better! Only bad thing is my speaker went up nine months after I bought it. Verizon swapped phone out for a new phone and that’s when I got the updated software installed. The update is intended for visually impaired folks but works great when you are driving as well. Keep up the good work LG but install better speakers
