Great Phone For Outside Activities

Mar 29, 2011 by SprintTampaBay

This phone is for active outdoors people, its build for rough and tumble activities.
It's great for camping, hiking or fishing & hunting it can take the punishment. A phone that fits in with outdoors industries where smartphones and blackberries can't survive. It truly the go to phone when the going gets tough and takes on job.

This is not just another pretty stylish phone, it's a tough looking mug phone for work and play.

Pros: 3G

Military Spec 810G means the Taho is submersible, can handle the temperture, weather and tough punishment.

Good call quality, reception and battery life. The speaker phone is loud and clear.

Excellent front display for outdoor use, internal display is bright with easy to use menus. Large buttons with a nice layout.

Cons: Lacks some multimedia features like Sprint TV.

It's not a smartphone or Blackberry nor is it going to win a pretty contest.

Excellent manly guy phone

Jan 20, 2011 by BadFrog

This is a great "manly guy phone" and is built to fit in your big hand, even the buttons are a bit bigger so you don't key two by mistake !

Go ahead and drop it on the floor ! It's rugged and won't break [better not !].

It has a very user friendly interface and features. They may be basic but they work and the phone responds fast.

This phone is for "talkers" and not "typers". If yah have to do the textingm Net and E-mail, you can. But why look at a dinky screen and a silly little key pad. Do your "wired friends" at home on the PC or laptop.

The voice calls are crystal clear and this phone boasts strong reception capability. I live in the boonies and can pull in the Sprint tower in my living room could not do that on an SCP-3810 !!

The speaker phone is very clear but as one could expect it is mono-tone [so what].

When closed, you may think your hinge is loose but it tightens right up when open.

The display is easy to read in daylight. The bluetooth allows you to import stuff from your laptop for directory and pics.

Everything works on this phone, even the video !

Pro: excellent all around phone for voice calls and can do the Internet if you have to.

Con: They have should tighten the hinge when it's closed so folks don't think the hinge is broke.

All around great phone for the basic phone user. !

BULKY JUNK

Mar 8, 2011 by Nor Cal guy

Bought this phone yesterday.

I have been waiting for sprint to come out with a ruggad flip/camera phone for 2 years. I have a Samsung Z400.

The TAHO in my opinion is total JUNK!

Yes its bulky.. The speaker stinks, you cant change the tiny text font, except for incoming texts, which makes reading what you're typing rough.

It takes picture and videos, and even at the 2 mega pixel setting I'm NOT impressed. It takes forever to send picture mail. Half the videos I have sent my friends never arrive either..

I took the phone back and sprint did a hard & soft flash and reboot, neither worked.

I am glad sprint has a 30 day return policy ($35 "Re-stocking fee") IM TAKING IT BACK TOMORROW!!

PROS: Ummm... If I ever got into an altercation on the street, I could use it as a weapon. Its BIG & HEAVY!

CONS: PLENTY, see review

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

new to taho

So far so good. The button that activates the speaker phone is right where my thumb goes naturally when I answer a call...annoying but easily switched off...hope I can modify my behavior before I get perturbed off.

Disapointed Sanyo, you could have done better

Jan 20, 2011 by Dan71

I have had the Sanyo 7050 for about 3 years now and have had no issues with it. when I saw that Sanyo was coming out with a newer rugged phone I got excited to retire my 7050.

My local Sprint store has them in stock and got to review and go through it. Man was I disappointed.

First off it has the same ringers that my 7050 has! In three years Sanyo could not roll out better or different ringers for the Taho?

2nd the ear piece is low and the speaker is very "tinny" sounding.

There was nothing really to get excited about.

Yes it has the camera and video, but other than that it's really the same phone I have. It is 3G so the internet is faster than my old one. Im sure its a good phone and it will do the job for those that like this style phone, but I was expecting so much more.

My work phone is the Casio Ravine.. Sanyo needs to take some notes from that phone.

Pro's
Mil Spec
Rugged
Feels good in the hand

Con's
Volume is low
Speaker Tinny
Old school Sanyo ringers
