Two months, I love this phone

Mar 13, 2011 by furyx639

The Huawei Ascend is great for what it is, an entry level Android phone. It runs for $99 on Metro, which is about $100 cheaper than their other android phone the LG Optimus.

The only difference is that the Ascend had Android 2.1 so you can't save apps to the SD Card.

The internal storage is plenty for what I want to do with the phone, I have a bunch of IM and Social apps (Kik, Facebook, AIM), and I read news (Reader, Pulse, reddit is fun), I checkout movie showtimes and descriptions (Flixter Movies, Fandango).

Overall, this phone is in my hand 99% of my awake hours. I'm stuck to it like glue, and I manage to do more with it than any phone I've had before.

An app I recommend for people having battery problems is Juice Defender, and if you're phone runs too slow try Watchdog, both help out a lot!

50/50

the reason why i say 50/50 because i have been thru two phones already my first on was GREEAT!!!!!! it didn't give me any doubts about buying the phone until one day the touch screen just STOP working ... other then that i LOVED it ....

but me i like taking pictures its not the best phone but hey.....i have some good ones!

now on this second phone that i had to get is UGH!!!!!!!!!! it makes me want to go back to a basic phone....it frezzes, slow, has a mind of its own, shuts down when it wants, when i text it puts whatever it wanted, when it on the charger and i try to use it its like the charger runs the phone i can go on and on about it...

but for it to be a cricket phone i can say "thumps up not going to be the verizon droid or sprint HTC EVO or tmobile's HD or G2 but its a PERFECT fit for cricket crappy service crappy workers and crappy PHONE!!! :)

Horrible Little Phone

Sluggish response. Slow....slow......slow.......

Touch screen is very slow and unresponsive. Not clear and crisp either. Graphics and text look blocky. The on-screen keyboard is a nightmare to use. Expect to do a lot of tapping and getting the wrong letters.

Call quality is mediocre. Not loud enough or clear enough.

What is up with the small non-standard headphone jack. No using your own ear-buds on this thing.

Looks and feels cheap.

Skip this phone.

Horrible phone! phone lags, and the android 2.1 system doesnt allow the user to store apps on SD card! phone has many problems, like blank screen, freezing, touch calibration is horrible as well you cannot set the phone calbration. phone will also not allow you to create a google account on the phone itself you have to go to a desktop computer to create one. Very dissatisfied with this phone

Dont waste your time

I have to admit, my expectation were not too hi anyway after learning this phone is actually made by Kyocera. Anyway, I was excited to finally get my paws on an Android powered smart phone, besides my hesitations on the manufacturer.

CONS: The phone likes to reboot itself randomly. I'm not talking about once in a while, I'm talking once every 30 mins. The camera is horrible, no flash. The model I have is running Android OS 2.1. The phone is buggy, glitchy, and runs very choppy. The battery is worthless. After a 12 hour charge, with one hour, My battery life reads 43%. That's beyond unexceptional, especially for a "smart" phone.
PROS: It's an Android. Nice size screen. The battery cover likes to pop off every now and again which is really annoying.

PROS: Not many. The price, but you get what you pay for.
