Samsung Freeform II

Apr 13, 2011 by Mark_S

Very good solid messaging phone.

Pros: Vivid QVGA display (upgrade from the R350)TFT
Decent call quality and battery life.
Blackberry build factor.

Cons: Keyboard more cramped than the Freeform.
Much softer touch action on the keys.
Not as customizable as the original Freeform.

Solid Phone

Feb 9, 2011 by dubfreaks

PROS: For the price, it's a great buy. I love the keyboard. The keys are a bit small, but I am a former Blackberry owner, so they weren't so hard to get use to. I have dropped this phone plenty of times and it just "keeps on ticking". Battery life is excellent. I can run 2 days on a 12 hour charge, and I use this phone for business so I'm not talking about minimum talk time.

CONS: Freezes at times, but very rarely. Not very customizable, so if this is important, this is not the phone for you. Camera is worthless.

Overall, I highly recommend this phone. If you are looking for an easy to use phone with awesome texting capabilities, this is for you. If you like to browse the web, and customize the look and feel of your phone, keep looking.

Freeform 2

Jan 28, 2011 by patwackp

Bought this phone today at a Best Buy in East Palo Alto, Ca.
All I can say is.... WOW!!!!!!!!

This is the best Samsung I've ever owned!!

I love the fact that I can link to my GPS navigation unit via Bluetooth for Handsfree with no problem.

Con: (1 only)

1: Battery could last a little longer.

Pro's:

1: Everything else.

A must for those who like to do alot of texting.

Kind of reminds me of a Blackberry minus the cost or the hastle.

A must buy!

Good value with a few disappointments

Nov 30, 2010 by jimbodynamo

I've had this phone for about 3 weeks now.

For $50, this phone has a fairly robust feature-list, so it is a pretty good value.

Some mild to moderate CONS:

There appears to be only ONE "master volume" control for every action on the phone. Want to use your phone as an alarm clock, but want your ringer turned off so nobody wakes you up with a drunk dial at 3AM? Sorry... can't do it. If the ringer is off, so is the alarm.

QWERTY keyboard: Awesome! Tiny keys that I often press 2 of at the same time: Not so hot. My hands are average-sized for a man, though a bit on the slender side. Even with these slender fingers, the keys still seem awfully small, and other than 2 tiny ridges on the J & F keys (which I can baaarely feel with my thumbs), it's hard to determine where my thumbs are without looking directly at the keypad.

When viewing images on the phone, there doesn't appear to be a full screen option. When displayed, the images only utilize less than half of the already tiny screen.

PROS:

Screen is bright and colorful. Though, as mentioned previously, it would be nice if you could actually utilize the full dimensions of the screen to view stored photos.

Fit and finish of the phone seems pretty good. I especially like the smooth finish on the back and sides of the phone.

Battery life seems adequate. Not really a pro, or a con really.

I have not tested the phones MP3 capabilities, so I cannot comment on related features.

Overall, for the $50 I paid for it, it seems like a nice little package. Unfortunately, with the too-small keys, and the lack of some interface features that even my old, who's-heard-of-them UTStarcom #CDM7126M phone had, this phone has some sizable disappointments.
