Verzions first camera phone

Jul 15, 2003 by Robbie De Jesus

I got this phone today and I ordered it the day it came out from verizon. The first camera phone of its kind and totally kick butt. The picture quality is superb and the full color display is awesome. This phone good battery life time and also its simple 2 use. It is 3G compliant and the hook up coming soon for computers will allow you to use the phone and its airtime to download and surf the net virtually anywhere! This phone gets a 5 because the calling quality also like the rest of the phone rocks. The only problem is I don't believe there is a way to make the front LCD to stop scrolling. But compared to the rest of the phone thats a drop in the bucket. In Maryland service is digital almost everywhere. Another con is just that not enough Get It Now programs are out for this model because its brand new. I highly recommend this phone if you are planing to buy one. Its affordable and awesome quality, probably the best yet by verizon.

Like it fine.

Dear Readers:
I have been using the LG 6000 for 1 1/2 weeks now, and I really like this phone. Although I am not a phone geek (yet,) I am an audio guy, and a professional photographer, who has an appreciation for nicely made things. I had a concern about the quality of the sound of my voice when I was making calls to land based phones. I'm here in San Francisco, CA, and when I was talking to other people using this same phone through the Verizon net, it sounded really good, in fact, it's a miracle of technology. When I called friends on home phones, they thought my phone sounded mediocre. The sound might be described as, "the voice was clipping," and dare I say, digital in nature. I went to several Verizon stores in the area, and all the sales help had the new LG 6000 on their hip. I though, what's up? Is my new phone broken? Will I have to go to another provider? I don't want to because I really like this phone. The always friendly and helpful sales help gave me the latest software upgrade, and a cell tower I can call my own in the hood. I then called my brother back, and he said it sounded about the same. I then hung up, and turned on the auto volume control, a feature in setting> call setup, and called back. It turns out I was talking TOO LOUD into the very sensitive microphone, and overloading the circuit. When I lowered my voice, everything sounded much better. That's a cheap fix! To those folks who think the camera is not up to par, I would say, you can't expect much from a phone, and It's just for fun. As to those who would like a flash, know that a flash will cut through a batteries power reserves like a hot knife through butter. If I could wish for one feature, I would like to see a ready light on the screen telling me that the alarm is set. There is no way to check without going through the menu, so it keeps me a little paranoid. Oh yea, I love the little return voice with the voice dial feature.

Wow

I have to say that when I first saw this phone I thought it might be too big/bulky and masculine for me. I orignially got the Samsung a610 and decided that was way too bulky and the sound wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I went back and swapped it for the vx6000. I'm so glad I did that. It's not nearly as big as I thought it was. It's so light and practically fits in the palm of my hand (and I have relativly small palms :)) The sound quality is great and I get reception in my apartment which has poor reception to begin with.

The camera quality isn't wonderful and the camera doesn't have a flash (at least I don't think) unlike the Samsung. But then again, I would never use this as a "real" camera anyway. Just for those random candid shots I might want to take. I'm not so sure about that little mirror either for self portraits, but I've decided I'm not really photogenic anyway so I rarely take pictures of myself.

I just bought a travel charger cuz it doesn't come with the phone. I'm not so sure about the battery life yet. I charged it over night and it's already at half life 2 days later (my old phone would last like a week without charging). We'll see though, not a big deal.

I guess my only other concern is the digital only aspect as my parents live in Vermont in a "shady" region. But I decided I almost never use my cell phone when I go home anyway, and I can always just check my VM from my home phone and call people back if it was important. I only go home like once a month if that for a couple of days, so it's really not a big deal.

Overall, I love this phone so far and am so glad I swapped my Samsung for it. The Samsung was cool, but this is just better in different ways. I love it.

Great Phone

If you don't currently own this phone, then you are missing out big time. I've seen and used other color/ cam phone but none of them is as easy to operate as the 6000. it has everything you could possibly need. Its technology is advanced and with new updates on the way, you will always be current with you sht!

No bugs either!!!

Hmm... Shall We Say Impressive!

I can say with much satisfaction that this phone is by far a great phone. From User friendly, to great quality, and lightning fast uploading/downloading of pix coupled with great vibrants on both outer and inner screens this phone is just GREAT!

made my top 3 list...

i got the vx6000 a little more than a week ago and i was more than impressed by its design, features, and quality. the camera quality is one of the best (if not, the best) on the cell phone market to date. the zoom feature is sweet and the multishot feature is even better. not to mention that this phone's main screen can display upto 262,000 colors as opposed to every other phone out there which can display roughly 65,000 colors. also, the scrooling feature and the blinking multi-colored lights on the external screen is quite amusing (although the scrolling feature can get a bit annoying after a while). the reception on this phone is also beyond average (in central illinois) and the battery life is better than i had expected. i detected only 4 minor flaws on this phone. one...the camera has no flash. two...the picture ID goes away as soon as u answer ur phone so there's no point in it if ur phone is set to answer a call when u open the flip. three...there's not much of a variety of downloadable ringtones for this phone, but dont worry...in time, they'll come out with some more. last but not least...the built-in mirror can get very frustrating to use when taking self portraits cuz the camera cant be in use while the flip is closed and the phone isnt capable of displaying picture images on the external screen. but like i said....those are only minor flaws. this phone is a must have and what's better than having verizon wireless (only the best cell phone service provider) backin it up. and for those of u who only care about how a cellphone looks...this is also the phone for u, and for only $150 after the mail-in-rebate, u cant beat it. this phone's worth by far exceeds the $150 u pay for it. there's really nothin to think about....get this phone if u plan on gettin a new cell and if ur with another service provider, u need to switch to verizon becuz not only are they the best, but this fone is exclusively for verizon.

Well it was definitely love at first sight .. but more importantly after using it for 2 days .. the love has grown exponentially.. the features are excellent .. my old phone was like a brick.. love the sound and music .. would give it 5 stars and recommend it especially for its price with Verizon plan..

This is the best phone i have used, easy, love the ring tones, voice activated dialing responds very well just say the name of the party you have set up(unlike my old T720 had to say name more then once). Everyone should try this phone.

Needs new Software Update

Sep 10, 2003 by FAUguy

I have tried two VX6000s and both of them
had software problems. Even a few friends of
mine bought the VX6000, and all had the
same problems. The Tech at the store
noted them all and said they were aware
of some of them, and that LG should have a software fix out in a few weeks. (I'm still waiting).

Here's a list of the problems:
1)The is a high-pitch chirping sound that you
hear when talking to someone. Sounds like
chirping/beeps. It happens every 15 seconds or so and lasts about 5 seconds.
2)If you change the volume of the ringer, it
also changed the volume of the earpiece...and if you change the volume of the earpiece it also changes the volume of the ringer. Some how these two settings are cross-linked when they should not be.
3)Even with the earpiece volume turned all the way down on "Low", it is still too loud. If you turn it to "medium", it is so loud it's almost like having a speakerphone.
4)There is no menu setting to allow the keypad's lights to stay ON for more than 7 seconds. However, the Internal Display has adjustments for up to 30 seconds.
However, the VX4400 does have the menu setting to adjust how long you want the Keypad's lights on.
5)All the images on LGs (and other) web sites of the VX6000 shows the
external display showing the date and time
together. However, there is no way of doing this that can be found.

I do hope that LG does have a fix for some of these bugs because I would like to go back and purchase it again.
The internal color display is the best out of any phone that Verizon sells. The menus are easy to use and come up fast. The camera
takes "OK" VGA quality pics, but I'm sure the camera phone out next year will take better quality images. The camera is good for fun&quick pics, but shouldn't be used to take your Vacation photos.
