Great Phone!!!

Sep 13, 2010 by chhimmychhunga

Okay, so i've owned a good number of phones in my lifetime. This is by far one of the best phones i've used and owned. I'm still using it today.

The size is great, not to big and not too small and a good weight. You can customize the homescreen to your liking and it's easy to update your phone. I especially like it because i can use AT&T's Unlimted media plan for my phone so it only cost me $10 a month for unlimited data because i'm on the family plan as well.

The Nokia browser is nice, but using the Opera mini browser is faster so i use that all the time. Now the apps for this phone don't compare to the apple or droid apps but they're decent and get the job done. It's really easy to get apps and download them onto your phone.

I would say the best thing about this phone is FREE Ovi Navigation which has saved my life many times. This it the main reason why i keep coming back to Nokia.

The phone has everything you need. A good camera that takes good pictures. FREE GPS. Nice touch screen, full qwerty keyboard because i'm not that great typing with touchscreen qwerty keyboards. 8GB of built in storage plus memory card slots. Very simple drag and drop USB connection.

The sliding mechanism was weird at first, but i eventually got use to it. The only this i could say bad about this phone is sometime the unlock and lock sliding button is delayed or doesn't unlock your phone the first time and the accelerometer isn't as intuitive as an iphone.

All in all this phone is great and i would recommend it to everyone!

Great camera phone with tons of storage!

I've owned this phone for 1.5 years now and I learn something new everyday because I am one of those folks who like to figure things out rather than read the book but being a Nokia fan for over 12 years, it is okay because they do not re-write the wheel too much when it comes to standard features in the user interface.

I am in the DC area and call signal is strong but is not good on Metro. I've seen other cellphone carriers make and receive calls while in the tunnel. Sound quality is what you would expect from Nokia - great but the Speaker can be a bit louder.

PROs:
-8GB internal memory
-Awesome camera w/ flash and video capabilities
-Great sound quality
-Decent media player
-Unlocked GSM World phone
-Good size
-I mean just check the specs...

CONs:
-Nokia's OVI app store needs more developers ASAP
-You will have to charge this phone almost everyday if you are a heavy user/caller
-Only 1 Home screen to add widgets

Something I just learned:
-This phone has a forward-facing camera...YES! (phonescoop please update specs)
The quality is that of a 1.3 mega pixel level with no zoom or flash capabilities but it does have one. When you get ready to take a picture, hit Options and on the list it asks if you want to switch to secondary camera.

On my Wish list from Nokia:
Please make a bar style with qwerty keyboard phone with 8GB or more internal memory, HD capabilities, dual-core 2GHz processor, more homescreens and widgets...kind of like a beefed up E-61i (my previous phone). The X2 comes close but not enough memory on board.
Thanks Phonescoop for this great site!

Pretty Good

This is my... well... I can't even remember how many Nokia phone's I've owned. Nokia makes great devices but they always seem to miss the bus with their latest and greatest releases.

This is a decent smart phone. I've owned the N95, N95 8G, N96, N97, and N900. I just stepped back from the N900 because it is missing things like MMS and 3G for AT&T. It was a great device but just not for me... not yet.

I use the Nokia phones I purchase to help keep track of important reminders in running my business. I live and breathe by the schedules kept in these devices.

Back to the N97 Mini...
It's got an impressive amount of capibility. It's just a bit too slow. It needs a faster processor and more RAM. The phone itself is very stable and does nearly everything I want it to. The NOKIA browser is a bit slow but I downloaded OPERA MINI and it helped out quite a bit. I'm planning on adding the GARMIN MOBILE XT navigation software to it in the near future.

Pros:
Great features
Great battery life
Great camera
Touch screen works well
Great cellular call service
OK Speaker phone

Cons:
Bluetooth a little on the weak side for range.
Speaker could be better
Video streaming is jerky
OVI Store always wants to use cellular data and won't seem to work with wi-fi.

All in all... another great Nokia product but if they could drop this and the N900 into a blender... they'd have a nearly perfect phone!
