My iphone vs Hero Comparison

Oct 16, 2009 by jkoshy18

My last phone is the iphone 3G - Had it for over a year.
I loved the iphone, but after using the Hero for a week I do not miss it at all.

Excellent phone - but will it's potential be reached or will HTC make a new phone and leave this one as is?

Pros:
-Screen response is exactly same as iphone
-Great to customize your screen the way you want it
-It does alot of little things that make you say "wow" - Scrolling a new text at the top while your reading a text or doing something else.
-Linking your phonebook with google or facebook and even updating the person's picture with what they have it on facebook

Cons-
-Not as nice to look at as the iphone
-Screen could be bigger, Iphone seemed to be the perfect size for typing and viewing pages, I text alot and my hand hurt from the way i was holding and texting. Keyboard is a smidge smaller, but holds up to extensive typing
Icons are small - and are not clean and presentable as it is on the iphone
-Battery is very poor - I put an alarm on at night and the phone died and I was late to work. Shutting off data and other apps helps.
-Sprint Reception is not great where I am
-Certain video clips don't work on webpages as it did for the iphone. ie: ESPN
-Android App Store. Come on Google. It looks 2nd rate compared to the Apple App Store, it's more difficult to locate items, Apps are not nearly as presentable or easy to figure out. Seems like Google is putting forth a very poor effort in having the App store potential met
My Conclusion:
The Hero is one phone you will have no regrets with. I thought i would never give up my iphone -The iphone has a whole company working on it to make it better, since it only has one phone! - HTC will put out this phone and move on, rather then updating and making it better and better.( i hope not, but that's business)
Please Google, you are a great company, work on your App Store - make it atleast comparable to the Apple App Store. But I know you can make it better, so let's get going.

Love my HERO

Love this phone. It's been a long time since I have loved a phone. Sprint is always pretty slow when it comes to getting the good one's. I love this phone. All the features and all the customization puts this phone at the top of any list. If you like your sprint service (which by the way is great where I live)I do know that its different in every area and your a gadget person when it comes to your cell phones. This phone is a must have. I have not had any problems and I probably say to myself at least once a day "I love my phone". So take this review for what it is. A satisfied customer that loves his Hero!

Simplisticly good!

I have left my Iphone for this phone. The Hero at first seems so confusing, it actually has a lot to offer and allows to customize so much. The customizing may become to much because at one point you may be like what the hell to put next. It is not as simple as downloading apps and it takes up one box space like the Iphone. Widgets may require a certain amount of space. In my opinion the battery took forever to charge. Resolution is good but could have been better. For 5 mega pixel I would have expected a lot more. The track ball is not needed. The overall look of is boring and simple. I will however say it is like no other phone and its def steps into a great place where phones will become something more.

Pros:
Can play with it for hours.
Decent call quality
Android
Amzingly cool features at your finger tip
Predictive text is really good
Phone has to ability to do much more than I have let on to.

Cons
resolution not as good
feels to small, icons to small, buttons to small
to many apps doing the exacts same thing as preloaded apps. facebook app are horrible
volume is soft.

Last comment, if the Iphone and Hero was to be combined, it would hands down be the most perfect phone ever, (as long as its not on sprint or att)

Great Phone

Great Phone. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a flash for the camera. That's about my only gripe. To my understanding though, Android 1.5 does not support a flash, but 2.0 does.

Pros - Everything
Cons - no flash
