Get IT.....Very Nice Phone

Dec 6, 2009 by elkdawgg

It will take you 2 or 3 weeks to get use to it and learn some things about it- be patient! I was going alittle crazy at first trying to figure it all out....i have had it for a month or so....I love it! Great Phone and reception is GOOD. Navigation is second to none! The search feature is worth buying the phone alone. This phone can do some stuff. After two BB Curve 2's, and problems with both i took a chance on Droid. You should take the chance b/c it's worth it. Not only is it a touch screen BUT you get the bonus of a keyboard! The apps are great, fun and will occupy your time haha. Battery is so so, you can adjust some things to help. Camera is added bonus (5.0). Nice browser as well. It's one of my favorite phones of all time, and i have had a bunch. I think it's night and day from a BB, so you be your own judge BB users, i think once a DROID fan always a DROID fan....ENJOY the phone b/c it can do a LOT

Wow what a great phone!!!

Well I have had the Motorola Droid for 3 days and I love it. I was coming from a Dare. I was able to get it for $100 after rebate with a 1 yr contract. Yes the camera is a bit flaky but I hope it will improve with the next OTA update. I think the future is Android and I am sure Apple is worried about the next version of the Motorola Droid if they are not worried about this version. If I could have a iphone or the Droid I would stay with the Droid. The market is also great with hundreds of free apps. I do wish the screen was resistive so I could use a stylus but the keyboard is fine when I want to use a stylus. Hats off to Motorola, Google and Verizon for coming up with a very nice large screen touch phone. I also wonder what goodies will be in Android 2.5 or 3.0?

DROID

The droid is a well put together phone. It is very customizable and open to anything.

It is a phone not to be compared to the Iphone.

The Iphone has it pros and cons, no phone is perfect.

I think the Iphone is boring and all there is "apps"

The phone is very quick and works on the best network Verizon. I had no problems with phone, and works like a champ.

Pros:
5mp camera
fast browser
wifi
google maps
qwerty keyboard
16gb memory
google OS

Cons: none yet

Big Step Up for Verizon

Nov 6, 2009 by gebhape

OK so I am and was an avid iphone user. I loved it. To be honest I have been searching for a replacement ever since this last summer when my company switched carriers to Verizon.

I have had a Blackberry 8830. Good phone, did email, terrible web. No iphone subsitute.

Then early this month I switched to the HTC Imagio. Great Screen. Sharp phone. TERRIBLE OS. Also the interaction on the touch screen was clearly made to use a stylus not a finger.

So I decided to try the driod. Now while still not an iphone. What it brings to the table is great web browsing, and great apps much like the phone. All its missing for me is the ability to put my Itunes on it. But oh well. The call quality is amazing. Plus its super fast processing. The iphone cant touch it. I know they are both 3G, but for what ever its worth the driod is faster. It was also faster than the Imagio.

Overall I am happy. I hope the app store grows for this device. The multi-media I am sure will too.

I would say if your in debate...do it and throw the hammer you wont be sorry.

Standing ovation Moto, Google, & Android

DROID DROID DROID!

This phone has truly amazed me and it continues to do so. I must say that I have always wanted an iphone, but after owning a Droid for only two days... I no longer have that desire. This phone combined with Google and the Android market have really got something here. The greatest thing about it in my mind is that it will always be evolving. Anything that you want is either in the Android market OR most likely will be. The Apps are AMAZING by the way. I can NOT believe how many of the apps that are truly great and FREE! It's almost too good to be true.

Before the Droid hit the market on the 6th there were early reviews from those lucky enough to sample one. I want to comment quickly on the 3 biggest complaints that I noticed from those reviews...

1) The physical keyboard got TERRIBLE reviews. I could NOT disagree more! I think the physical keyboard is fantastic. Anyone that said it was too flat (flush) and had no definition needs to have their sense of touch examined. I can definitely feel rounded & raised keys. Granted they may not be as defined as some others, but it is very thin and definitely usable. I love it. Anyone that thinks the keys are too small must have never typed on a Blackberry.

2) The Camera. Can't really argue here, the camera is really quite poor. The picture quality is NOT what you'd expect from a 5MP camera. Pics I've taken have come out very blurry and the camera doesn't like to focus very often.

3) The music player. Ok... it's not itunes. That said and out of the way, it's not that bad. It's completely doable. It organizes music and then plays it. Outside of itunes and auto syncing what more do you want? It's not itunes and never will be. So if u can get past that, you might find that it actually isn't too bad.

Pros:
Apps, Apps, Apps!
Both virtual & physical
BEAUTIFUL screen
Call clarity is great
Soooooo many options

Cons:
Camera is poor

Gray area:
The battery. Just not sure yet.

This phone is absolutly amazing. ive had it for about 24hrs now and am now convinced that this device is the real deal.

pros-
-touch screen works to perfection
-the screen resolution is like looking at a high def tv.
-The app selection is great. huge selection of free apps
-The download speeds are crazy fast.
the notification bar is awesome.
-google maps works great. i love the street views.
-the web runs faster than any other phone ive ever seen. (yes including the iphone3gs)

cons-
-honestly havent found many yet. the one thing i was disappointed with was the camera. i think this will be fixed with a software update.

overall this phone is amazing and ive already recommended it to everyone ive shown it to.

DROID DOES!!!

Love this phone! I have had an Iphone as well as many different types of blackberry's, and the Droid blows them all away. I like how I can go to the local store if I am having a problem (and NOT have to drive to an apple store grrr). Phone is great, FAST, camera is high quality (5 mp that you can change from 3.2 to 2.0 so that file is not so large when sending) and the screen is simply amazing. Great phone, an excellent buy and definitely and Iphone killer! The open access web that android provides is key, over 10,000 apps!!! YES!!!!

A Must buy for Google Users/Fans

Nov 7, 2009 by scheming

i played with the htc eris extensively, and comparing that with the motorola droid i would have to say that the droid definitely takes the cake, or however that saying goes. the moto droid is a very sturdy feeling phone. the screen is awesome, huge and clear. played a video on there and it was clear. the keyboard is ok. it's not great, it's pretty flat but you can tell when you are depressing a key and that's what really counts, right? the phone is very square, making it feel less comfortable in your hand when using it in portrait mode for dialing and using portrait mode qwerty keyboard. side port for charging is annoying, but you learn to deal with it, i guess.

android 2.0 is nice and runs very smoothly on this device. voice search for google works incredibly well. the web browser renders pages quickly (wifi), definitely right on the heels of the iphone. integration with facebook and gmail works flawlessly. software keyboards work really well too, correction of misspelled words works almost perfectly. google voice integration is sweeeet, option to call people using google voice number is the bees knees.

if you already use google for a lot of their services, like gmail, calendar, google voice, etc, then this phone will only add to your google experience. a must buy for google users/fans on verizon.

there is much more that could be said about the phone, but like i said, i don't own one (yet, have to wait til monday to activate my phone)
