A step up from the 5310

Oct 9, 2009 by rcallon

With a better camera and more sleek design, the Nokia 5130 is a definite step up from its predecessor the 5310. The camera is easy to access and takes sharp images; a decent phone for those looking for something simple.

PROS:
3.5MM Headphone Jack
2.0 MP Camera
2GB Micro SD Card
Easy MP3 Side Controls

CONS:
Slow Processor (Lags)

It's just OK

My criteria was T-Mobile with music player, fm radio, camera and bluetooth capable. I didn't have a lot of choices with that selection. Went with the Nokia as that was the most reasonable at the time. Keys/buttons are EXTREMELY cramped coming from a flip phone. Small size makes it very toy-like. Overall a nice phone but nothing special. Occasionally gives me the white screen. Music player must be turned off manually before removing headset as the loudspeaker will be blasting-have to remember this each time I walk into the office! Radio reception not great (but not many phones are). Right soft key can not be reprogrammed to any other function other than T-zones. Phone functions not real intuitive but I can work with it. I think I am on to the Sony Equinox now and this will be my backup phone. It could have been great.

Nokia 5130 is a Keeper

I have had my Nokia 5130 XpressMusic for about a week now and am very happy with it.

Call quality, battery life, reception and software interface are the main things I care about. Nokia 5130 does all these basics well, including adequate volume. I have had an entry level Nokia before and was impressed. The contacts list accepts lots of information including several phone numbers per contact, email and address.

There is more. The Nokia 5130 has a very good MP3 player and FM radio that uses a standard 3.5 mm jack (this is important). To add MP3s and pics, you simply drag and drop using the included usb cable. When you play a tune, the picture of the album cover is displayed. The built in 2 MP camera is about the only average feature of this device, especially in low light There are other features like wap, email, IM, games, notes, alarm, etc.

Maybe best of all, the Nokia 5130 has a good ergonomic feel to it and is well built. Plus, it is very small and fits in your pocket nicely. After you set the theme, wallpaper and other settings to personalize to your tastes, you will be very pleased with this little device.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
