This phone is just like all the other Motorola phones. Cheap and mass produced and of low quality.

Pros:
Cool backgrounds
Bluetooth shortcut key on outside
MP3 player
Camera
Customized shortcuts on main menu

Cons:
Calls drop
Voicemail shows up hours after the mail was left in the inbox
Sound is horrible, volume all the way up is about as good as lowest setting on any other phone
Circle thing for the menu select falls off

You think that this phone is "rugged" because it has the rubber keypad and front, but it's not. The target consumer for this phone would be a construction worker or someone that would potentially need the rubber keypad right? So if you are going to target that customer (who you know works around loud equipment 90% of the time) why would you make the sound suck?

The person that would enjoy this phone would be someone that works in a sound studio and has supersonic hearing... like a bat. Then this phone might be of some use. But for the person that buys this phone for its "rugged" look and to use on the job site. You'll waste money.

Fun Phone

I am with Alltel and I upgraded to this phone. I love the way the phone's OS system is put together. I would say it is pretty thoughtful and user friendly than past Motorola phones with Alltel. The speaker phone for the player is really loud, but when in a call the speaker could be a little louder and also the earpiece, which is why I gave it a .5 off. I got used to it and can live with this little glitch. The battery lasts really well for a Motorola and the phone is a bit more customizable than other regular phones in the Alltel line. A little figuring to see how, but in all it can be done. I would compare this to a Motorola V3M, which I had before and loved the phone and now I love the VE465 just the same. I'd say good job Motorola and Alltel for this phone. Alltel needs more phones like this one.

Sometimes when i make a call from someone on my contacts 0111 shows up and the call or text is not completed so i have to enter the number manually, most of the time my pic messages don't go threw, the front screen turns black all the time and the phone turns off by its self sometimes. By far this is the worst phone iv'e had...

Leaves much to be desired...

When I first purchased this phone I was very excited about it. Well that was before I started learning about the phone itself and all the inner-workings of it.

Unlike most all of Motorola's competitors they (Motorola) still refuse to increase the font size (both alpha and numeric) for it's displays and that is THE #1 Killer for this phone. The font sizes are very, very small. I previously had the Moto e815 which had a large display and it was close to impossible to transition from that to the VE465.

While I like the idea of having a single piece flat-top keypad (to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the keys), it made texting very difficult. There was nothing to indicate any placement of keys via touch.

The text messaging feature required close to 5 steps before starting your message and that was very frustrating. It was also very slow in transitioning between features of the phone.

I think the phone looks really cool and has a great feel as far as weight goes, but ultimately I wouldn't purchase this phone. As a matter of fact I returned mine.

I also didn't like the degree in which the phone opens, it wasn't conducive for talking and felt like your cheekbone was a teeter-totter for the phone itself.

Pros: Good look, weight, and quality.

Cons: FONT SIZE, Speed, Display

I have no clue where to begin. Well I got this phone thinking that it might be alright. Cause I had the rocker which looking back was a great phone. Howevery...im on the second one of these phones due to the fact that the first one keep cutting off.

Pros
Batter Life
Pics are pretty good

Cons
Texting sucks on this phone lots of steps and it is so slow.
It cuts off when you have a lot of people texting you at one time.
It drop's a lot of calls in my area good Has a hard time getting a good signal in my area.

I recently had a krzr and LOVED it. It was a great easy phone. Well when I dropped it in the water I replaced it with the VE465 and that was a mistake!!!!
If you like predictive texting you will hate this phone! Everytime you text you have to go through about 5 steps before you can even start to text. The features are not all that great and does pick up well.
Reception on this phone is poor and since this is supposed to be replacing the KRZR they really made a big mistake. I thought when you replace a product that you are improving it but this time. Oh by the way I'm taking mine back after about twelve days either that or I'm going to throw this phone against the wall!!!!
