Yeah, piece of crap..

Dec 1, 2008 by Suks2BeYou252

Basically, nothing on the touch screen seems to work right.

Returned it within a day, and back on my Voyager.

getting better

Dec 31, 2008 by VZWBUCKEYE

I have had the phone now for 2 weeks and am loving it more and more everyday. I beleive with the future software updates and Blackberyy app store the phone will be a great one. CONS... sometimes the phone can slow if alot is going on with it. usually not a issue...just need to close out applications.

It's a storm allright!

Feb 11, 2009 by cashmoneyra20

Not a fan at all. And before you ask, has this guy done the update, then yes. I've had a curve for the past several months and was very excited about the storm. Now that I have it I can't wait until I get my curve back. If you like slow non reactive phones that don't do what you want then this is the phone for you. If it's a good reveiw it's a RIM employee!

Pro's

Cool Idea
Interface is nice, but some fuction with that form would be a good idea.

Con's

Always slow even for little things.
Love the uncaught exception application errors messages when making calls.
Love how it disconnects my bluetooth when I use the speed dial, very cool feature.
Great transition from landscape to portrait.(Great= couple second delay if it transitions at all).

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE...

This is a complete disgrace especially coming from RIM. Lag is terrible the full qwerty keyboard is terribly small. The clickable screen is a horrible idea as this device could never be used in a quiet environment. accelerometer is almost a joke as it flips and turns as it chooses not when you want it to.. Verizon must be kicking themselves in the ass with this one knowing how terrible it is..

Wait for the GSM one coming to US soon as it will be much, much better and it will at least include WIFI something verizon purposely left out... I cant believe how embarrassed I feel for both RIM and Verizon when I use this thing... Well it will be going back to the store ASAP...

I took it back

Dec 9, 2008 by jazar

I took the phone back after 6 days. It took me forever to type anything on this keyboard.

Pros

good sound
nice screen

Cons

slow
keyboard is a pain to type with
cut and paste is very hard
trying to go back to a work is damn near impossible.

Blackberry Storm

Nov 26, 2008 by VZMoney

I really wanted to love this device but I just can't. Like I previous reviewer said, I can't believe this is the final release of the Storm. Seems more like a pre-production model.

Pros:

-Beautiful Screen
-Great Features
-Exceptional reception (far better than most normal vzw devices)
-Good build quality

Cons:

-Laggy and slow
-Not made for people who email, text, and navigate through their phone excessively
-Seems to get hot after long use
-SureTouch does not seem perfected yet
-"Tinggy" sound in voice calls, call quality to numerous people does not sound clear as the 8330 (VZW's Curve) or 9000 (AT&T's Bold)
-Desperately needs a software update
-Freezes for no reason

Most annoying con: Accelerometer seems WAY too sensitive.

Overall I'll give this a 2.5 - This is not what I expect from RIM. Sure, maybe software updates will fixes some issues. If so, maybe I'll give this another shot in a few months but hey, by that time there will be hype surrounding the "Niagara".

I'm not trashing this device, it will be great for those crossing over into the BlackBerry market for the first time or for those who always though BlackBerry to be too "businessey" but for us BlackBerry power users... I believe we're left wanting.

Didn't really cut it

Jan 20, 2009 by demodave

Well, I had the Storm for all of 10 hours and took it back. I thought the phone had a lot of promise, but I couldn't get past the typing on the touch screen and the lag on the accelerometer. If you have big thumbs, this thing will frustrate you to no end. Also didn't like the touch n' slide for menus - was always "selecting" the wrong one (see thumb issue.)

I'm sticking with my Curve...for now.

...more Heat Lightning than a Storm

Ӣ CONS
o Can NOT calibrate the touch screen
o One hand use is very poor.
o Cut and paste is cumbersome and difficult to capture partial sentences / words
 It is AWEFUL in the browser
o The phone does NOT toggle well between applications when on the phone
o The phone does NOT do well when ON the phone and going between hand set, speaker and blue tooth
o There is a bug in the system. Whenever I am typing a IM, and receiving an email or sms, it will reset it self (~25% of the time)
o You can NOT adjust the factory preset sounds
 You can ONLY adjust the NORMAL sound settings
 You must create a custom profile to have alternative options
o Battery life is poor
 This lasts ~6 – 8 hours
 The curve and 8703 lasted 12
o The … lag… between… applications…is …still…slow…
o Typing is still cumbersome.
 It requires much more PRECISE movements
 If I misspell a word and need to go back and change it, it is TERRIBLEY difficult to place the curser in the middle of the word
o Can not re-assign any touch screen options in applications
 Example: It would be nice to be able to alter the touch screen button options at the bottom of the screen when in the message list.
Ӣ I would prefer REPLY ALL instead of OPEN.
 Example: it would be nice to be able the default screen in the PHONE option.
”¢ I would prefer to have the keyboard instead of the dial pad, call log, contacts or previous. I want to start typing their name… ( in know the name… not the number… )
o Can NOT lock the touch screen during a call
 It would be nice to have an option to set the screen to lock when a call is answered
o Keyboard short cuts work , but ONLY when the keyboard is up!!
 I have discovered the short cut finger swipe to show / hide the keyboard, but they short cuts are only effective in the landscape view
”¢ Yes, I realize some short cuts are available in the portrait / shure type, but it still doesn’t work well.
