Awesome!
I am simply in love with this phone. I haven't experienced any of the problems with the caller ID or lockups that others have reported. The graphics have to be seen to be believed. The T9 key typing makes it easy to send quick messages w/o having to learn a new writing style. Synching with Outlook is so seamless you don't even know it's happening. Also, Handango has so much software, downloading new 'toys' has become a new addiction. The only thing is missing is a digital camera, but that would just be icing on the cake.
Only one problem.....
I love the phone but I HATE the battery life. I can not make it through one day without the low battery beep alarm going off. This is with the slim battery, of course. The extended battery is much better but it is really big. The email works great. I am going to get rid of my IPAQ now and only carry one device! Work on that battery, Samsung.
Great Phone
I now have been using the SCH i600 for about 1 month, I first tried a Treo 650, but returned that one to Verizon as that one was bulky and had very poor reception.
Bought the i600 on Ebay for a very reasonable price. So far the phone has performed well on Verizon (Richmond, VA)
Has 2003 operating system installed and Active Sync 3.8. I have not had any problems sync. with Outlook 2003!
Nice size, Great battery life, (Extended Batt) Very good reception for an all digital phone, even in fringe areas, great sound, even if the speaker phone volume could be better, voice dialing works great.
COOL device not yet HOT
I had this device for some time now. My hope was very high when I heard of it for the first time. I thought I could finally get rid of all other devices and have just one device (plus a small digital camera).
i600 is with VZW service. I have been quite happy with the coverage. I did not always got the help I needed but eventually got it from Samsung or VZW. It was sort of hit or miss but... I finally get to someone who knows the stuff including admitting inexperience.
Pro's:
+ size, keypad, screen
+ desktop charger, extra battery
+ window CE
+ speaker phone
Con's:
- no support for international characters
- battery life on standard battery
- not so good integration with VZW portal
- Bad (and only) choice for keyboard
- no camera
I am waiting for the next generation....
