Behind times

Dec 10, 2008 by pcmansf

I played with the phone at ATT store as I was planning to purchase it right away. This is a perfect place to see how the phone will work in 6 month as all phones are pretty bitten up. When anything is new it works fine.

Touch screen is very good – its sensitivity is very much like any other good touch screens out there, though you do have to push on it. Display resolution and colors are brilliant at least for my taste.

Phone is very slow. I would press a button and nothing would happen for 2-3 seconds, something that will drive me to insanity eventually. It was happening consistently so it wasn’t a onetime glitch. It bugles my mind why phone manufacturers do not use faster processors for these things.

Phonebook was the last straw for me as there this no way to type a person’s name and pull his number up. I returned first iPhone because of that. My thumb will fall off trying to find someone in my address book as I have about 300 numbers in it. They do have an alphabet (a really strange one too), but I have about 30 names that start from “S”. Two iPhones later Samsung still doesn’t get it, WOW!

I cannot comment on anything else as I haven’t used it for long enough. Overall this phone is lousy try by Samsung to catch up to Apple. For those of you who don’t like to read:

Pros:
Weight, very light
Slick looking
Large screen
No data plan requirements
Fairly user friendly

Cons:
SLOW, phone take SECONDS to respond
No phonebook search

Absolutely Love It!!

I have been reading the reviews online and on here and decided to go for it. I have had flip phones for the last 10 years and have had great luck with LG phones for the last 3 years so I was a little cautious on getting a non-flip, touch screen Samsung. I'm very happy I did. I agree with ALL of the Pro's listed so I will only list Con's.

Con:
Battery life - You will need to charge more often then most basic phones BUT that comes with usage with the amount of features this phone has.

Widgets- some are repetitive and useless

Speed Dialing- doesn't have as of yet but the search option in the contact menu isn't bad once you get used to it

I use my cell phone for calls, text and now browsing the Internet so this is the perfect phone for me.

so nice

pros
screen looks great.
pretty good reception.
touch accuracy is good.
camera is fun to play with and takes good enough pics to use them for contacts.
vibration feedback is very useful.
very easy to use.
cons
no speed dial.
the method to quickly move to a letter in your contacts is kinda odd.
only eleven preinstalled ring tones, non of which are short enough for me to use at work. wish it had a "beep" tone. but, i can make my own.

a speed dial would make this phone a 5.

Great phone, horrible network

Dec 22, 2008 by musicman2117

OK, let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this phone. I really can't find anything to gripe about. My gripes are with the network, (AT&T) so lets get right to it....

I am a former Verizon customer. I have been a Verizon customer for about 8 years and I have had no problem with them. The only reason I left is b/c my fiancee and my future mother-in-law is with AT&T and I figured it would be cheaper to be on a family plan. (They have iPhones, so no way were they coming to Verizon) Anyway, I decided to try the Eternity to try a different phone from the iPhone. Like I said, the phone is great....great touch screen. Great options on the phone....a lot of fun. But AT&T is horrible. The GPS system is EXTREMELY slow! It take at least 7-8 minutes to pull up the GPS system. With Verizon, I was used to getting extras such as gas prices and events in my area with their GPS. AT&T has none of that!! Also, their ringtone selection is very weak. They have the usual "top ten what's hot at the moment" ringtones, but I like different stuff. ex. I had Steve Harvey as my ringtone once. And again, Verizon had all this stuff but AT&T does not.

Well to sum it all up, the phone is great but it is definitely on the wrong network. Very unfortunate.....I think I will probably take it back and get the iPhone instead. At least Apple will make up for what AT&T does not have have. :-(

Best touch screen

Dec 17, 2008 by nni123

I am using Samsung SGHD807 for over 2 years without any problem (drop many times)

First impression of this phone was wow screen size and brightness is too good. Touch screen is fast and easy to navigate. If you look at the service plan and phone cost it best option one get in current economy (you can get simple FREE phones if you are tight on budget)

Quasi Complete!

Great options and functionality except for two major problems:
1. NO voice command option for hands free.
2. NO speed dial except for #1 (voice mail)

if this is not important for you...get it.

3. texting aol i mean its hott like u can type to the screen and everytime you turn the screen the keyboard faces you
4. Pictures- when ur looking at pictures u dont have to press a button to view them just tilt the phone and it understands that u want to see a diff pic
5. look i can go on its a hott phone cool attractive fast extended memory, professional feel

ok enough with that

CONS

again im personally rating this phone for my needs and wants

ill tell you this

1. me personally i have gone phone through phone looking fr the hotttest thing out there

5 out of 5

FANTASTIC....

Dec 11, 2008 by maverick96

Not sure why the other reviewer said this device is slow?? It is FAR from slow. In my comparisons it responds faster than the iphone.

PRO'S: Touchscreen (Amazing, fast and smooth)
Screen (Brilliant, crisp and bright)
Features (MMS-which is GREAT,Widgets,a camera with zoom)

I have found absolutely NO NEGATIVES with this phone and I really believe that AT&T has not marketed this phone at all in fear that it would take so much away from the Iphone this holiday season. This phone actually functions much better than the Iphone does...

Too much, too pricey

Feb 3, 2009 by goldglover375

I was excited to get this phone when my old contract ran up, however after a few weeks this phone became too much to handle. I didn't want to deal with the phone due to the fact that it was becoming a liability. Long story short, I have returned this phone because I don't want to deal with all of the unnecessary features and the expensive price tag.

PROS
-3+ mp camera (with great features)
-Video
-Touch QWERTY keyboard

CONS
-All touch screen (no arrow keys)
-Expensive
-Too much, more like a smartphone
-Vulnerable Screen
