Great Features Horrible PHONE

Aug 13, 2008 by T00Lbob

Like many people I was dying to get this cell phone and I was one of the first people to order it from Verizon. The specs of this phone was exactly what I was looking but in the end this phone fell short of my expectations.

Pros:
very durable
not as big as expected
signal strength was very good
loved the extra features such as the flashlight and compass.

Cons:
Horrible speaker quality
disappointing battery life
not great as a phone

Unfortunately I returned this phone a little over a week after I got it, if they ever figure out how to make a quality speaker for this phone I would get it in a heartbeat but due to the lack of the sound quality I cannot recommend this phone.

Run your software update

This phone gets 5 stars, but not until you run your software update and get the very latest, V9230M07. That fixes all the problems, night and day difference.

Now if they would just make the Backup Assistant available for it......

Audio sucks DO NOT BUY!!!

PROS

Nice size and shape
Military spec
Water resistant
Compass
Flashlight

CONS

This phone should of never been released and verizon should be slapped in the face for trying to pass this off as a phone!

The audio quality on this phone is so horrendous it has to be MILL spec because all you want to do it throw against a wall!

Verizon does not have the pulse of the PTT crowd, the speaker phone is a complete joke, and it absolutely useless for Push to Talk. This phone should be pulled off the shelves immediately! It deserves worse than a zero! Buy at your own risk!

It's going back

Not user friendly. I keep missing calls. It's next to impossible to surf the net.
I can barely hear the person I'm talking to.
My old antique Startack had better sound!
I have been using the silent mode for years and can't find a replacement phone that vibrates enough that I can feel it while on my hip.

not the greatest

I have 3 children so we thought that this phone would be perfect. i was in the children aspect. but as far as the phone goes it sucks. My husband has been through 5 of them in the last 10. not good. He had to keep taken the battery out counting to 30 and replacing it almost everyday. it cuts out of calls so he missing out on jobs for his work. he some how got a virus and when we replaced it they kept transferring the virus from phone to phone. there is nothing like having a phone that you cant even use have the time. not highly recommended

LOVE IT

The greatest phone ever. I have it now instead of the moto 276, and this is really indistructable and tough. Just works like you need it to, text video pix games etc. Calling is very good and the phone is water proof, so if you had the protector and stuff over the speakers, I was expecting it to sound muffled.

The memory card and vcast is really truly cool and good. I love this phone and I plan to stay with it a long time.

this phone is junk

This phone is junk. It will not stay on. They tell you they have never had this happen before but they are aware of the problem @ verizon. They just want to sell these phones. They have replaced mine 4 times in the last 3 months. Do Not Buy!!!!!

Good phone!

I've only had the phone for a few days but it seems to work fine. I was worried about the complaints that the call quality is mediocre but the people I've called with my new phone said I sounded fine and didn't realize I was on a cellphone. I also used the speakerphone and found the quality was good, though a little tinny, which seems to be typical for speakerphones. But the sound was loud and clear and not distorted. Perhaps the newer firmware (it's up to version 15) helps with the sound quality compared to what it was last year when the model was first introduced.

The phone comes with more bells-and-whistles than I was interested in, but because my old phones have taken their share of abuse in the past, I went with a rugged model. The PTT feature is an additional monthly cost, but it worked quite well and was a blessing when I needed to communicate with my boyfriend without having to fumble around looking for his number to dial.

The battery could be better, but it does comes with an extended battery which is a little bulkier. This unit is a little larger than some of the tiny phones on the market today, but I like the size and feel of it. It's also more responsive than my old Samsung M300 (I changed from Sprint to Verizon) when going through menu options.

I would recommend it.

G'ZONE PHONES ARE OVERPRICED JUNK!

Apr 7, 2009 by Urbanfirefighter

I was very glad to see that the new style Mil Spec Boulder was released. This phone is a huge disappointment. Audio sucks. Difficult to hold. Unable to download the Personal Assistant software so I had to reload all of my phone contacts by keypad.

My service is with Verizon and is pretty good.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GZONE PIECE OF JUNK!

My first two GzOne Type V phones lasted just over a year before crapping out. I'm done with Gzone. Mil Spec tough? Don't believe the hype.
