Great Phone but has Audio Problems

Dec 8, 2008 by ruizo

I love this phone. Everything about this phone is awesome. Texting is very easy. Camera is very clear.

The bad thing about this phone is the following: I received this phone on Saturday and immediately I noticed when speaking with someone I would hear Static. It wasn't big, its minor, BUT ANNOYING. It happened to every call. I went to different locations thinking maybe it just didn't like my house, but it wasn't getting any better. Every time I would talk to someone it would be static (like wind blowing in the background). I called to complain, they sent me out another one thinking this one was defected, As soon as I received the second one it had the same problems. What are the odds? huh! So definitely something is wrong. Now I have to return this one and get a whole new different phone! I'm upset because I switch carriers to get this phone and now its no good. I don't know what to do. People say deal with it and live on but I like crystal clear sound when talking to someone and this blackberry curve is definitely not providing excellence to my needs.

Blackberry curve 8330 (Verizon service)

Oct 23, 2008 by Zerwas

This is my first "smart phone" as well as my first blackberry. I struggled at first trying to decide wether to smartphone or not to smartphone..... I then decided on the Motorola Q9C (newer Q). I had that for a couple of weeks and felt as though I needed a computer degree to run it. I traded that in for my new HONEY of a phone, the 8330 curve.
For ME, these are the pro's:

-Call clarity is outstanding! (was on the Q as well)
-Easy to use menu's.
-Phone NEVER freezes up. (never did on the Q either)
-Battery life is just fine for me. Last 3 days plus.
-Love the calendar that is installed. It easy to use.
-The overall phones size is good compared to the Q.
-The keyboard is spaced out just a little more than the Q which is nice.

The cons:
-Having a hard time trying to download songs into the phone. I have an 8GB card installed but for some reason I'm still having a tough time figuring it out. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.
-Also having a tough time figuring out how to activate the nums lock on the phone.

I visited this site before switching to the 8330 from the Motorola Q and all I can tell you is I am VERY HAPPY I made the switch. The Q is a nice phone as well as long as you know how to run it. The email system on the 8330 is so EASY to figure out. It is user friendly in every possible way. I can't recommend this phone enough. It really works for me!

Blackberry Curve is Awesome

Taniach, have you checked to see if your phone is getting EVDO service? If it's only getting 1x service or you're in a fringe EVDO area, it will keep on searching for EVDO service making the battery drain much more quickly. I have a Blackberry Curve for Verizon and it lasts me 2 days and that's with it being online with jivetalk, sending and receiving e-mails and text messages and surfing the internet. I love this phone =)

ALLTEL Curve THE BEST!!!

Oct 4, 2008 by efn80

The BB Curve through ALLTEL has been an awesome phone. I had the BB Pearl, and the BB 8830. Both good phones but The Curve is so much better.

Pro- Nice Screen Size and still not a huge phone to carry around. It still allows me to watch youtube videos and have the ablity to do MMS. Love to send Pics.

Cons- It is missing Flash Player. The word is BB is trying to get this on BB and will have to look out for updates.

Sprint Blackberry Curve

Sep 30, 2008 by mjohns316

This is my third blackberry after having the NEXTEL 7100 and the Sprint 8703e. I waited for this one to come out and it was the cure for my blackberry withdrawal. The applications that come on it really met my needs. The added media player and camera are a plus as well. The GPS navigation is awesome. My mother-in-law stays in a rural area 50 miles away and I plotted course from her house to mine in the city and it only had to reroute 2 times due to the country back roads. The speaker quality and signal strenght for Southwest GA are great.

Pros. Abundance of applications. I had to delete a few that I didn't use. Abliity to use your own songs as ringtones.

Cons. Not able to send MMS messages, but who cares.

Great phone

Sep 22, 2008 by saa001

I just can't quit Blackberry's. I have left them and come back to them many times. I get tired of all the email I get but then miss it when I stop getting it. It is like a disease.

Now onto the review. The 8330 is a great phone.

Pros:
The phone part is solid with good audio reception and transmission.

The speaker phone is awesome.

The screen is great with the multimedia doing a really good and solid job playing videos and wav files.

Sending and receiving text messages and email is easy and quick (although I do get tired sometimes of getting all my email all the time).

The functions are intuitive (like automatically listing the cell phone number first when texting and email first when emailing) and the spell checking is fantastic.

Cons:
Battery life sucks, I have to charge it every day if I receive a lot of emails or text messages or at least every other day or I risk it dieing.

When I want to send emails or receive them, this phone is fantastic. But sometimes I just don't want to get my email all the time which is a fault of mine, not the phones.

Overall a great phone. The only reason why I gave it a 4.5 is because of the battery issue.

Pretty cool phone

Aug 29, 2008 by GrumpyJoe

I have had this BB 8330 for about a month. My first BB I might add. Had a 700p for a few years and really liked that Palm. So I was pretty nervous trying something new. Overall I do like this phone. The stability is what make me the most happy. I do like the fact that I get my e-mails at real time. The Palm was good but this is better. If I can compare it like... the palm is like high school and the BB is like college. You can do more and have more freedom. Where as the palm you are limited to what you can do. At least I was. I think I will keep it. I did put a hard case on it and it feels better in my hands. Not so breakable.

Pros: The stability

Cons: The buttons feel a little on the cheap side. Feel smaller, I was hitting 2 buttons at the same time a lot.

The Greatest Phone

Aug 21, 2008 by crazyblessed

I would recommend this phone to everybody. After having the White Chocolate (which I was very disappointed with Verizon for recommending that mess), I am very happy with the Blackberry Curve. I am constantly on my phone texting and surfing the net. I read some of my favorite authors books on my Blackberry.

Pros
the phone style
the phone itself

Con
Hard to get on website sometimes
Too many steps to get to the home screen (I am still learning the phone)
Some of the terminology on the phone is hard to understand.

Outstanding phone

I absolutely love this phone. I've never used a blackberry before and I'm amazed that how fast and well the email service works. I also love the ease of downloading and viewing attachments. There are also several applications that I love using on the device including the blackberry messenger and facebook. I'm also pleased that it has access to certain Media Center apps.

Pros:
qwerty keyboard
great size
facebook, vz navigator, mobile banking and other apps easy to use
web browser is better than what i have used on windows mobile devices
blackberry messenger is great
cut and paste option
Cons:
Keys on keyboard could be slightly bigger

I will never own another windows mobile device. I love Blackberry and look forward to an update to the curve and possible the Bold.

Blackberry is Simply Amazing

Aug 13, 2008 by gatorgirl

I just got a Blackberry 8330 Curve and simply love it!! The features are great in this phone. I highly recommend this phone to anyone that wants a dependable phone, web browser, smart phone. The ringer on the phone is very loud and I can hear it in my room when I am in the kitchen cooking. So to the people that say the ringer is low maybe you need to make it louder or something because I nor my friends that have this phone have the problem. The camera on this phone is simply amazing with the 2.0 mega pixel camera and extremely bright flash taking a photo at night is a breeze and the pictures come out great. The battery on the phone is great and you can go a full day and a half or longer with browsing the web, texting, and making calls. This phone is awesome and I recommend it to everyone!! Blackberry's are the best!!
