Completely satisfied

Sep 5, 2008 by kwaping

It took me a long time to decide to purchase this phone. I was always a fan of hard keys and was concerned about having everything touchscreen-based. I was also concerned about the accuracy of the touchscreen. After some hands-on time in the store, I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Dare.

I am completely happy with my purchase decision. It's a lot better than I had even expected!

+ The touchscreen is extremely accurate, and has a calibration tool if you're unhappy with the default settings.

+ Being touchscreen-based is actually a good thing, I've found. The adaptability of the display allows tons of screen real estate when you need it (games, web browsing, photos/video, etc.) and way-bigger buttons than you would be able to get with hard keys when you need them (dialing, typing).

- The battery life is slightly shorter than I expected from reading the specs, but it may just be that I'm using my phone a lot more than I used to. It's so fun and easy! :)

+ A "killer app" for me is having the phone speak out caller ID/contact information instead of just ringing, i.e. "Call from Dad". I never read anywhere online that this phone had the ability to do that, but it does. It's buried a little bit in the menus, but it's there. I was super excited about that!

+ The web browser is better than I expected. I didn't expect it to have all the configurability that it does, and it does a good job of rendering web pages.

- Games on this phone are not so good (for now). There's a decent variety, but the touchscreen is a little weird for them. Bejeweled works well, though. The selection of games is not as big as for other phones because they have to be developed specifically for touchscreen support.

- When a bluetooth headset is connected, the phone still rings via the speaker - at least, when speaking the caller ID.

Summary: This phone is great! The potential issues I was afraid of never materialized. My only issues with it are minor.

Better then voyager!

Jul 31, 2008 by lnknprkbas

I got this phone when I traded in my voyager days before the 30 days were up. I have to tell you... this phone pretty much does it for me. It has all the features the voyager had and more! I love the 3G i made my friend who had the IPhone jealous! love the 3.2 mp with flash. Never took better pix. The screen is as clear as can be. I bought screen protecters to rest asure nothing will happen to it. My only con at this point has to be no ESPN MVP! I am a huge soprts fan and loved my 24/7 access to it on my voyager. However I can still access the mobile site even quicker so no big deal just alot eaiser on the voyager. However no problems with texting only other peeve with that maybe pressing a dozen times to get a website still no big deal the phone more then makes up for it. Great call quality, signal strength, and speaker is great.

Near Perfect Phone - Verizon Has Done It

Jul 16, 2008 by jayllea

I've had this phone since Saturday (it is now Wednesday) and I am completely in love with it. I love getting the newest and best phones out and was a little iffy about spending the money on this phone, but it was beyond worth it.

PROs
*Excellent call quality.
*Ringtones and music sounds superb BUT..(see cons)
*Full QWERTY board if you just turn the phone sideways during a message.
Might be shallow..but it's a VERY nice looking phone.
*Verizon menu, not the same boring one, but improved and alot cooler.
*Touch sensitivity is nicely responsive..BUT (again, check the cons)
*Layout of phone is very user-friendly and you don't have to be a tech genius to figure it out
*The back of phone prevents phone slipping out of your hand.

CONs
*The music on the phone can sound robotic unless headphones are plugged in.
*Like with most touch screen phones, I find times where I have to touch the screen 3 or 4 times before it responds
*The phone feels a little bulky in my hand, sort of like the iPhone.

So, overall..it's an excellent phone. I find that the pros definitely outweigh the cons and the cons aren't serious enough to me anyways. Great phone if you are willing to spend the money. I recommend it to anyone.

LG DARE-FLAT OUT ONE OF THE BEST PHONES ON THE MARKET

Jul 15, 2008 by atc102178

Man i love this phone. The features are top notch.
PROS
The 3.2 megapixel camera with flash is just awesome. The pics u take with the DARE will come out fabulous. The edit feature is also cool. U can crop, add frames and stamps and even draw on ur pics.
The home screen is perfect. Everything u need is here. At the bottom of the screen are icons that will take u to ur text menu, dial pad, main menu, contacts and ur contacts u set as ur favorites all with a simple touch. In the middle right of the screen is an arrow that will bring up ur favorites menu. Instead of going to the main menu just set what u use the most here. Pics, videos, games, mobile email, ringtones...whatever u like all right here. The DARE is perfect in the touch area. Rarely and i mean rarely will you ever have to tap anything twice to get where u need to go. The sensitivity is perfect. The DARE is lightweight. It feels great in ur hands. When u r talking, the screen will lock so ur face dont hit no icons on the phone and when u pull the phone away from ur face it unlocks automatically. Thats sweet. This phone is just awesome. The texting is even great. Im a big person and my fingers are bigger than normal but with the DARE its no problem. The virtual keyboard is great and reacts perfect.
The sound is great. The ringtones are nice and loud. The music player is very easy 2 use.
The battery life is good. I went 2 days without charging it and thats with me going on the browser both days, texting like crazy, watching my videos and listening 2 my music
The web browser is fast and very easy to use and of course its full html.
Love 2 be able to check my emai
CONS(PETTY)
As with all touch phones, u will get the smudges and fingerprints.
The vibrate could of been a little bit better.
The DARE dont support attachments on ur email.

Like i said this phone is worth every penny + U CAN ADD INSURANCE ON IT UNLIKE THE IPHONE-LOL

I took the dare.

I switched from my Motorola k1m. I'm glad that I did. I'm still getting use to it. I tried downloading ringtones. Verizon just added them last night. It takes time to get use to the phone. It reminds me of the ipod touch that my daughter has.

Pros:
I love the slim feel of it.
Fits in my purse nicely.
easy to make calls with.
Sound is very clear.
I love the animated wallpaper.

Cons:
Won't charged in my car with a 110 plug. Had to buy a cigarette charger.
Collects finger prints. (Bought protective screens from Verizon for $10 for 3 of them)
Hard to find the right case.

All in all I love this phone. This phone should last me for a few years.

IPHONE Killer!!

Jul 5, 2008 by egoneski

This phone is awsome, i picked up the phone up a week ago and since i got it i have not had any problems. There is a learning curve with a few of the functions, but after a day or so it is like second nature. Everything is customizable and really easy to work with. I have a friend who has an Iphone and i like it better than that. Who cares to see and hear messages, to not be able to send MMS messages or receive them is less useful than seeing who called. Also about the person in one of the other reviews, you phone may have been defective, but the touch sensitivity can be adjusted, and if not then it could have been a defective phone.

Pro's: So far everything

Con's: So far nothing

I Recently purchased the Dare. I had the samsung Glyde and returned it hoping for the dare to be really good, It is. This phone is a work of Art small very easy to work with. Haven't played with the internet browser yet but everything else is very nice.

Pro's-
Small in size
nice look.
features are very user friendly
easy to navigate.
call quality has to be the best I've had
touch screen is outstanding
locking switch is easy to use unlike the glyde and voyager.
short cut screen is really nice you can drag the items to the desktop.
drawing pad is cool

Con's-
I have to get used to the texting (not really a con)

That's the only thing i can find with this phone. I'm really glad I have it. especially after playing with the Iphone it does compare if not beat in my opinion

One of Verizon's best...ever.

Aug 5, 2008 by bsarboukh

OK so I've had the phone for a few days now and have been playing with it non-stop. I have to say, this is by far one of Verizon's best phones they've ever distributed. I'm a huge cell phone junkie and I have to say: I haven't been this happy with a phone in a while.

I only wish that the virtual QWERTY keyboard was a little bigger...not that i have gargantuan fingers or anything, but i tend to hit the wrong virtual "key" frequently, then i need to backspace and correct. that's the ONLY issue i have with this phone.

Other than that, i have no complaints whatsoever. The battery last long, the screen pixelation is great, the camera is the best I've ever seen on a cellphone, and so on. There are a lot of neat things you can do with this phone, and after playing around with it and scoping through the manual, you can figure these things out and have even more fun. I've recently had the LG EnV, the Samsung U-740, even the Razr when it first came out. This, by far, exceeds ALL of those phones. I've even heard people have returned the LG Voyager and Samsung Glyde to get this phone, and i can see why.

If you're looking for a great phone, this one is my suggestion! By far!!

I love this phone, it is pry the best non-smartphone on the market. thought about getting a blackberry or a WinMobile but there is so many fees with those, it does just about the same as those. do yourself a favor, throw away ur iphone and get this phone!
