Hate it!

Aug 4, 2011 by kelseybug3589

I read the reviews before I bought this phone about 3 months ago. My friend as well as my sister both had the Dare and they both hated it, but the reviews seemed pretty positive so I thought I would give it a try.

The only pro about this phone is it has a decent screen.

CONS:
*phone constantly freezes, you have to continue to take the battery out of the phone and put it back in.
* the internet is super slow
* When you text T9 or ABC when you put in a letter it will make up its own letter- at this point you again have to take the battery out of the phone.
*when you go into the camera most the time it says "camera error" and wont let you take pictures.

I really regret buying this phone. waste of money.. and that is why verizon no longer sales it. it is now a refurbished phone anywhere you buy it.

I recently got this product, looking for a good touch screen verizon phone. And boy did I find one! This phone is Light in weight and easy to use. It comes with many good ringtones and wallpapers.

Pros:
camera is great
many ringtones
many wallpapers
light weight
fun to use

Cons:
can sometimes be hard to scroll around.

Over all I think this is a great phone!

Dare, amazing, yet still not iPhone successor

Alright, let me just say, I have the iPhone 3G and I have used the Dare. While the Dare seems to be in competition with the iphone it is not a successor. but i like everything about it still

Love it

I really do love this phone. This is the second LG that I have owned and loved. I bought it used from a co-worker that had it like two weeks and wanted to move on to bigger and better. That was a year and a half ago. I like that it's fancy enough to be a little of a "smart phone" but not so complicated that i couldn't figure it out (and without a manual too). Love the "favorites" screen that lets me put the people I contact the most on a short cut button that have their pic that I can tap and it will bring up my options of call or txt. My son dropped it in the dogs water bowl two weeks ago....and after it dried out it's been working great. It broke my heart though when I thought it had drown. The only con I can think of is i cannot figure out how to transfer my pics from my phone to my external mem card.

Touch screen goes bad!

Mar 10, 2010 by EMU Pilot

Pro: When I got the phone in 2008 it was "the new hot phone"

Pro: Awesome battery life

Pro: Good reception

Cons: THE SCREEN SUCKS. AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, THE SCREEN DEVELOPED SOFT SPOTS WHICH WOULDN'T WORK, TO INCLUDE THE AREA OF THE SPACE BUTTON FOR TEXTING. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE TEXTING, I COULD HIT THE "A" KEY AND THE BUTTON TWO LETTERS OVER WOULD ACTIVATE

Con: YOU CAN CALIBRATE THE TOUCH SETTING, BUT AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, THE SCREEN WAS UNRESPONSIVE ANYWHERE NEAR THE EDGES

Con: THIS PHONE WILL GO OFF IN YOUR POCKET. UNLIKE THE IPHONE WHERE IT REQUIRES THAT "SWIPE" TO UNLOCK, THIS PHONE REQUIRES JUST TWO TAPS WHICH IS EASILY DONE IN THE POCKET

awesome phone

so I've had my dare for about a year now and theres really not another phone i would rather have. its camera is amazing for taking pictures and the touch screen is ultra responsive. although sometime it can mess up. sometimes you'll spell out a word and it does something completely different. mine has a small glitch but it hasn't been there for weeks. I have verizon of course and I've had it for about five years and in those five years the dare has been the best phone I've ever had. i highly recommend this phone to anyone.

inconvenient phone

Pros:
--easy web browsing(if you use Stylus pen)
--memory expandability
--works as modem for laptop (speed is nearly unusable though)

Cons:
--It is found turned off next morning, though battery level was 2 in last night.
--Voice Command has no "cancel" command, and asks "Please say again" infinitely until you manually press a button.
--MP4 (movie format) only. (MPG, AVI, MOV files don't work unless you convert them on your PC.)

Overall: Unless video or photo is your top priority, you don't want this huge phone for 2 years.

Dare You to Touch!

Oct 1, 2009 by B.Ran

I owned the LG Dare for about a year before I decided that it was time for an upgrade. Overall I'd have to say that it's a great mulitmedia phone, but doesn't compare at all to the iPhone.

Some of my favorite features include the camera, music player and web browser. The camera is only a 3.2 megapixel, but works astoundingly well for pictures that could rival some digital cameras. The music player is a fabulous feature, and with an 8GB memory card your phone could easily double as an MP3 player. My only complaint is the playlist feature. I hate not being able to reorder the songs in the playlist. Makes listening to my musicals kinda hard. The web browser is one of the fastest that I've experienced, but video streaming is kind of slow and it doesn't support flash.

As wonderful as this phone is, it isn't without its flaws. I have over 800 photos stored on my phone, and it makes the phone run much slower. Sales representatives say that this problem can be fixed with a memory card, but once my photos were transferred the problems remained. There have also been problems with the screen. Before the software update I experienced some blue tints to the phone, but one trip to the verizon store and a software upgrade later and the problem was fixed. And I had several complaints that some of my picture messages turned out green. My only other complaint was that the phone would turn off randomly, seemingly at times when I was doing something important, it always turns itself back on, but the frequent power downs became quite annoying.

Call quality was ok, but I have had several dropped calls in the Atlanta area. I often hear an echo on the speaker system. The touch screen is very accurate and responsive, and text messaging is a breeze. As with a touch screen, fingerprints and dust will collect but a simple cover works fine.
