Very slow, freezes often, terrible keyboard

Jan 6, 2009 by DssTrainer

I owned an HTC touch for about a year, trying to get used to touch-only phone. Finally I decided that maybe I don't need to get used to it and I could get a nice in between phone. So I chose the ACE for its super skinny form factor, good hand feel and weight, and it had some great features like the scroll wheel.

Unfortunately great aesthetics does not make a good functional phone. I got the phone with WM5 on it, but immediately upgraded to WM6.1 that sprint released. On first boot, it all looked pretty. But then I tried to do a few daily tasks. Listen to music and browse some blogs. These 2 tasks together brings the phone to its knees! It takes over a minute to load a page and the music keeps skipping while loading because it can't handle the interrupts properly. Usually it would get so bogged down that I can't even end the task properly because the phone stops responding.

Mornings were fun too. Set the alarm at night. Wake up to the alarm in the morning, but the keypad is unresponsive. So you are trying to press anything to get the thing to stop buzzing at 5am but no keys work. Have to remove the battery and restart. This happened ALL the time.

I'm back with my Touch now.. its slow too, but compared to the Ace, it's hyperspeed.

Hopefully sammy will bring a phone like the Epix to Sprint, this phone is no more than a paper weight

I waited a long time for this phone. Now that i finally got my hands on one, i wish that i didn't. The battery life is horrible. I cant believe that this pda didn't come with the extended battery & standard battery like the gsm (at&t) version did. I am only gonna say that i hope that samsung & sprint come up with a software/firmware update so you can send pictures to your contacts, not just email them. Thats right, no picture mail on this "ace" Most phones today come with a camera so the user can snap those great pictures that you wanna share with others. BUT NOT IN THIS PHONE!!!!! A sprint told me at the store today that they have sold 4 of these phones in a week since it has been out, and 3 have been returned because they cant send pictures! mine was the 4th............
