Nokia 6205 - not good

Dec 30, 2008 by jau2424

This phone is awful. The earpiece speaker is terrible. I can hardly understand what people are saying. It sounds distorted, muffled and tinny. I can't even use my blue tooth with it. My verizon store says it sounds fine to them so won't do anything about it.

Dark Knight 6205

After my contract was up and i was shopping for a new phone I read about this phone. I thought after the first nokia's were a flop, that verizon used that they would have learned a lesson. The vibrate function i use the most because a loud work enviroment, I cannot hear it a have missed alot of calls. The main screen developed a crack in it with no drops or pressure on it and it was blamed on me. They told me that they are prone to this. I am very displeased with this and will never buy a nokia again. When i get the chance and the money i will buy something else.

Easy to use basic phone

I've had this phone a month now. What I like most about it is the simplicity of design and ease of use. I could teach my grandparents how to use this phone. It also always seems to have signal for me, working well in marginal areas.

First off, the press on this phone seems focused on the Dark Knight viral marketing campaign. Adults can rest assured, this phone as it comes out of the box is a plain old black 6205. There are some Batman sounds and pictures on the phone, not activated. There is a spare Batman battery cover in the box, not installed.

Why I will not give this phone great marks is the clarity of the audio in the earpiece. It just sounds cheap. I often cannot get it loud enough to understand
the other caller without distortion. This is most often a problem calling another cellular phone, but I'm sure its sub-par.

Some people may also be concerned about the battery life. Given the rate my battery seems to drop just sitting on my desk with the occasional checking of the time, I can't imagine getting more than two days standby. It charges off a rare but standard micro-USB cable though (you can find them at an AT&T reseller for $62 or amazon.com for $3. For some reason, half a dozen Verizon resellers didn't stock the thing).

All other features of this phone are usable, but mediocre. It is just too cumbersome for me to get mp3s on and off this phone to consider it a replacement for
a music player (serial and bluetooth have cumbersome quirks -- your best bet is
transfer via a not-included micro-SD card). There is no stereo bluetooth profile, so unless listening to podcasts you'd probably want to use wired headphones
anyway.

As a second opinion to another review, I can say the vibrate mode does vibrate as I'd expect. Its a little weak though and can go unnoticed. Like all features on this phone, its a simple and obvious keypress to get in and out of vibrate mode.
