LG Shine

Jun 21, 2008 by abcramer

I ordered this from AT&T online and the reviews were around 4.5 so I thought i was going to get a good phone... Im not much for features but like a nice stylish phone that i can hear... Thought that LG was a good volume phone but coming from Motorola RAZR's, this phone was quite different. Took a good part of a day to figure out how to use it. To store number and just dial a phone number.. The big big negative was the volume... My ears arnt the greatest but i could hear the RAZR fine but this phone was terrible for volume.... I just had it 2 days now and will return it.. This is by far the worst phone i ever owned.

It's pretty sweet.

Okay, so I switched to AT&T recently because I wanted to get off Verizon (they pretty much lock everything on the phone so that you can't use shit) and I wanted to get off my dad's cell plan and grow up a little.

Anyway-- at first I was a little uneasy about the phone, but it is growing on me.

First I will give the cons:

Something I was looking for was to be able to make my own ringers just my recording music onto the phone (like the samsung's). I couldn't do this.

I get very nervous that I am going to be signed onto the internet all the time because I am not sure yet which apps sign you on to it.

Ringer is pretty quiet.

But! The Pro's I have are this:

Even though you can't make your own ringers by recording music like the samsung-- if you have bluetooth on your comp (I own a mac so I have this ability--- but I have heard some PCs do also) you can use www.phonezoo.com and create ringers and then "email" them to yourself (without sending them to your phone) and then save them and then put those through blue tooth to your phone and voila.

I had also been sad that I couldn't put ringers for specific people but I ended up just putting them onto the hard disk and then it allowed it.

the screen is beautiful.

i love the way that it basically looks like a camera.

the joystick is a little annoying but you get used to it.

it takes very nice pictures.

and the G3 network is pretty sweet.

So anyway I am learning to love my phone besides the weird aspects of it.

In the long run, everyone has issues with every phone. And so far, I have had no problems with it.

Excellent phone!!!

Love this phone. Call quality, solid build and just over all good looks. It just needs to be a little louder with the ringtone volume. Someone mentioned putting the phone in outdoor mode, could anybody explain how to do that. Thanks

This phone is absolutely amazing! This phone is beautiful, and runs graphically, and screen awesomenesssly*(not a word) awesome! I love the sound of the phone when you close it, as the same when you open it. it plays good sound, and the mp3 player is quite spiffey! This phone will be shure to score you major chicks! the menu styles are also quite changable, and beautiful. the only thing that i have a problem with is setting the ringtone. I really dong get how to set it, but i already love one of teh ones on there, so its all good.

Great Phone So Far!

I received my phone on Friday, as a replacement because I had sooo many Syncs and problems that Att gave me the Shine. I love it. It takes great pic. Hasn't dropped any calls sounds good. It feels like its made tough. Good looking, only complaint the buttons are smaller than I like, but no big deal I just have to get use to them. The joystick isn't as bad as people make it sound. Maybe I'm just happy to have a phone that works, But i love this phone so far.

Excellent Phone. But Not For Me.

After weeks of looking at phones i selected this one.
Although when i first got it i was a little skeptical.

Pros:
-Stable Slider.
-Wonderful camera.
-Sleek Design
-Video Mode is great.

Cons:
-Battery Life is ok.
-Toggle takes some getting used to.
-Buttons get stuck.
-Not a good texting phone.
-The sound isn't all that great for calls.
-The screen freezes up.

The phone was great but not for me. I ended up returning it for a samsung. LG is loosing its touch.

Fantastic phone! No issues with it yet. I have had it for about a month now and have only two complaints.. The keys are not very good for anyone with fat fingers such as myself, or someone that is addicted to text messaging.

I have yet to find any way to automatically delete old text messages to create room for new ones.

Good phone but....

I got the phone at Best Buy Mobile. Not at ATT stores in NYC yet. It has a lot of good points about it. Two weaknesses: 1) ringer not nearly loud enough. 2) the control fob (joy stick) is odd. When you press it downward, the phone starts to close. The phone's opening and closing mechanism should be stiffer, so that doesn't happen.

I thought I really liked the phone. I bought it two days after it came out. Turns out the phone isn't good at all.

Pros:
looks kind of cool

Cons:
very short battery life

very quite ring tone

very soft vibrations when phone is on vibrate mode

slow reaction time [like the old razors]

scratches too easily

weighs a bit because its made of stainless steel

overall. i feel like i got conned.
