V9 M - Where's the battery???

Sep 13, 2007 by cityguy

Two people posted about battery life; ok, now it's three of us. I can't get a full day out of the battery. Overall, the phone is nice, sleek, cool, solid, smooth, hip and one thin, shiny paper weight by 10:00 PM. Everyone has more or less talked the features to death, but if you're battery is dead who cares what features the phone has. Motorola should have included the all important BATTERY FEATURE. Yeah, the phone is thin, but come on. If you can't develop battery technology, then the least Moto can do is not rate it at 215 mins of talk time. I had a 102 min conf call and the battery was dead - gone - nothing.
Which is where my V9 is headed tomorrow at my local VZW store. Not sure what I'll use - maybe my old V3m - I might wait and see what comes out down the line. After AT&T lit up 1 MILLION EYEphones (piece of junk, IMHO), you'd think the VZ execs would see they have a problem and get some high end phones to market - FAST. After 10 yrs with VZW I'm really thinking about jumping to AT&T for the BB Curve.

2 Weeks with V9M on Verizon

Sep 10, 2007 by stephenr

I have had this phone since the first day and must say I am very pleased. The build quality is outstanding, the displays are excellent, the keypad feels great and I have had perfect reception. (Live in Philadelphia market) The phone feels very strong and comfortable in my hand. I would say the only minor complaint is the battery does weaken quickly and the speaker-phone button on the side takes some getting used to. I generally gravitate to the LG phones but I can say this is much better than the 8700 and 8300 which I own. I also bought the new LG 8350 today just to try and can tell you it is really cheap, cheap, cheap. Seems like a kids toy and I am going to return it. The V9M will not disappoint you!!!

You can make phone calls without even having to flip the phone opened. Need I say anymore?

razr2 = razr

Oct 24, 2007 by tazcalvin

i never been a fan of motorola. but i like the razr's form factor. its thin and unique.
anyway, when razr2 came out, i just had to try it.
here is pros and cons.

pros
1. nice call quality. really nice and claer.
2. clear and loud speaker.
3. great reception. and it holds on to it well too.
4. faster ui - now its decent.i really hated sluggish motorola ui
thats it.

cons.
1. small main screen. = i don't know why motorola didn't put larger and better resolution screen on this. it almost seemed like waste of spaces.
2. stupid touch screen pad on outer display. you have camera, music, and voice command button on outer screen. and its not customizable. and you also have another camera button on the side of the phone. its just stupid.
3.springy feeling - when you open/close the flip, you will feel the spring inside of the phone. i didn't really care but for $350 phone, it couldve been better.
4. decent battery life. last 1~2 days
5. ackward keypad layout. for texters, its not your phone.
CLR buton is in acward position. you really have stratch you finger to reach the CLR button while you are speed texting.

my verdict? whats the difference? i know that quality of the phone has been much improved. but its the same razr feature wise. specially, if you use the phone with verizon service, you would not feel any much difference.
so just wait another month or two, wait for the huge price drop and buy it with bogo promotion.

LOVE IT

i work for alltel and i have used every phone that they sell. i have always been a huge fan of motorola i got the frist razor when it came out back in 2005 and fell in love with it. i had up till this one the razor v3m for almost the past year and it worked great. i got this phone the day it got relesed and was a little turned off about the price i am not able to redo my contract so i paid 530.00 for it but it was worth every penny the huge screen size is really nice the bigger front screen is a lot better and as far as signal seems to be a bit better then the old razor and that one worked great to overall if you want a phone that works great and is fun to use then buy this one and i promise you will be happy that you did.

Great Phone!! For all of you high tech gooo rooosss, get a life!!!! It works great, sounds quality is awesome from Verizon. For a business man just taking on the phone it works for me!! Plus its strong and stylish. Only draw back back for people who like all thoses extra things on phones is that the camera on the phone should have a flash. Thats it. Remeber it is a PHONE!! Not your life!!! Great JOB MOTOROLA!!!

Not for me

Pros:
Beautiful display
Large fonts

Cons:
Too much lag time when typing
Battery cover falls slips off easily
microSD card does not seat well

Pros and Cons:
I like the concept of a metallic housing, but makes for a slippery feel and cold when in a cold environment.

I like the look of the phone, but in reality the phone is not ergonomic. Felt unstable and awkward in my hand.

Maybe the thief who took my phone will like it better. Phone has been reported stolen and ESN is locked. What comes around goes around my friend.

IT SUCKS!

Sep 5, 2007 by rok9900

I have 579 contacts, mostly business. I hit the voice command button and it says " OUT OF MEMORY!" "PLEASE DELETE SOME UNUSED CONTACTS TO ACTIVATE VOICE COMMANDS!" [what the heck]? Also can't record sounds and set as ringtones. Can't shift outside clock to left. Its too friggin long and heavy. It sucks. If I could get an NIB 815 I'd jump at it. Might go to NEXTEL for the ic902. If that new coupe had 1000 contacts, bluetooth, and a crappy camera I'd get that. These new phones all suck.
Verizon needs to get rid their standard menus. That really detracts from their phones.
Very disgusted!

Ed. note: cleaned up foul language

$400 piece of junk!

1. Does not support any of Motorola Bluetooth headset and headphones that I own. Even my new Moto stereo headphones that came out before the RAZR 2 even came out, don't even work.
2. Daily White-Screen freeze errors.
3. Text input in third-party app's in annoying. the "1" key cycles though characters that you will never use just to get to a period aor @ sign. the "0" key is used to cycle though the rest and again goes though characters that you will rarely use just to get one you will use a lot.
4. The touch-screen is way too sensitive. If you don't have a key-lock set, you will find that the TV app will load in your pocket and turn to a channel. Or it will just load the app and waste the already pathetic battery life. Even if the key-lock is on, the vibrate feature will go off so many times that when you goto use the phone, you will end up having 1 bar, maybe 2.
5. Horrible battery life. Unlike the A900, Katana, and pretty much all other slim-phones, the RAZR 2 gets really hot when using it. Heat means wasted energy, thus making the battery life the worst I have ever seen. If you are using bluetooth, and/or the TV app, or in an area with a weak signal, battery life can be as low as 40 minutes.
6. The UI is SLOW! This comes to it's full power of annoyance when you end up loading an application that you didn't mean to, and closing it down takes 5 to 10 seconds to close down. This will happen a lot, because the buttons are so close together, that you will end up loading the music or TV app without even trying. Scrolling through you content is horrible.
7. No real media player. You can not fast forward or rewind video clips. So those days of watching movies and shows on your phone are over. Unless you want to sit and watch it from the beginning.
8. The web browser is HTML, but it renders the site into pages. So a normal sized site will be cut into many pages. Some sites are cut into 10+ pages.
