Nice Phone Until It all came crashing down !!!

Mar 14, 2004 by Apocrypha

Hello,

This was a nice phone at first, but then it went nuts. I paid way to much for the phone to have it go out only a little after a years time. On my phone the front caller ID box no longer works or displays any type of information, it's just simply blank. I'm also having trouble with the large insdie screen when the phone is flipped up. The inside screen every once in awhile goes blank just like the small screen on the outside of the phone when it's flipped down. I called customer care, but they said the phone could not be fixed and the only thing I could do is just bye a new phone. Maybe that's why T-mobile only offers a one year warrantee with the phone. Although now, T-mobile no longer sells this model, but I feel sorry for everyone who bought one. Especially if they paid anywhere near as much as I did.

Get real

The t68i is crap! Before you insult the phone....know what you're talkin about. They made the V205 for people who for some reason need a camera and pictures on their caller ID. The S105 is the step down from it....on purpose. So lacking these features are not a flaw. Blue tooth? sure would be nice. Speaker phone? would be nice. Voice dialing? Would be nice (but then people would insult the fact that they have to say the name they wanna call more than once).
The ringers on this phone for a polyphonic ringer is insanely loud. On the T9 if you want to use lower case letters, just hit *. I'm gonna go read some more rants and come back to complain about them. k? k!

Good Phone

Upgraded my T-mobile phone to the s105 and keep it for two years. I loved the phone, even more when I had it unlocked. I never failed me.

Pros: Simple and easy to use. Great display, with animations. Near perfect signal (with T-mobile). Clear sounds through ring tones and ear piece. Can with stand some abuse (dropping it). Comes with 2 batteries, a clip, and nice car ear piece.

Cons: Not much here, really its a like or hate phone with the style. Try it out.

Compared

I really liked this phone at first, I showed it off to everybody. But then when the newer versions of it came out the X105 and the E105 I became greatly dissapointed in this phone. There is so much more that the newer phones can do, and they are barely newer, only a few months.
But it is still my favorite phone out of all the other phones I have had in the past. Next time though I will be getting a camera phone. I will always suggest to my customers to get a Samsung phone because I think they are the greatest, but I am glad that the S105 has been discontinued since the E105 and the X105 are so much better. Also can't wait to sell the E715

Fun little phone

I've had the phone for just over 5 months. I must admit I'm not the most sophisticated phone user. I primarily use it as a phone, but the calendar, to do list, calculator, alarm clock all have come in handy. One thing I do have a problem with is using the phone outside in the sun. The screens are nearly impossible to see. I also found the phone to be very slick and have purchased a leather case for it. I am thrilled with the battery life and the fact that it came with two batteries. Let's me always have a spare that's charged and ready to go. Surprisingly I haven't yet lost the little rubber cover for the charging outlet.

So far So good

I switched from a t720 to the S105 with Tmobile about a week ago, and so far so good. The screen with the 65k colors is awesome, and the ability to have moving screen savers is cool. I found a site on tzones that you can get free ring tones and wallpaper wap.s105.com It have several tones and papers to choose from. I have a live wallpaper of the Fast and Furious Car race. One down fall is that when you have the volume all the way up for the ringers, the sounds become a little distorted to me. Its like someone playing a stereo with blown speakers. I don't even notice that it doesn't have a camera like my t720 did. Then again i never used the camera. So well see from hear on out how the phone go's. But overall i recommend it, it is very user friendly and the free ring tones and wallpaper is a bonus.

Heapin' on the praise!

When my service contract was up with T-Mobile, I was itching to find a carrier with niftier phones and better service. I made the rounds of the phone stores, played with all the new stuff, read all the reviews, and visited the web sites. But the best thing I did was to carry another phone--sometimes one that was with another carrier--with me in my travels on and off the freeway. I traveled with an Audiovox 9500, Motorola T20, LG 4400, and my wife's four year old Motorola (large, WWII type walkie-talkie).
The ease in using the Samsung s105 was what I appreciated most. It also seemed to have the brightest and clearest screen. Of any comparable feature, it's weakest points were the ring volume and the headset volume. The AV, LG, and Moto all rang louder and had louder voices talking to me; however the S105 voice reception was as clear--just not as loud. I liked the speaker phone on the AV.
Battery life is tops with the S105. It comes with TWO batteries--one an extended life batt. Top that!

This phone is great

I love this phone. Everyone is saying bad things about this phone and they have obviously not done there research. First, everyone complaining about this phones screen compared to Sprint's A500 is rediculous. Yes it isnt active matrix tft, but by being passive you dont lose battery life to it. The screen is also bigger than the A500 so you get a larger viewable area. If you want to get free ringtones, there are sites, you really just have to search they are so random, that feature midi files for free you just need a converter from midi to mmf. You will also need a data cable which if you have a laptop and would like to get on the internet you just plug the phone up to your laptop and bingo, you got your self a modem. If you look on ebay, i got mine from a seller who goes by rjsdeals and i got a cd with 3000 free polyphonic ringtones. If this is all too much, go to Matrixm.com and they have ringtones i think for 49 cents and 10cent pics/screen savers. It is a great site. As for apps and games, read through these reviews, someone said something about them. Anyways, this phone is great. Only reason i gave it 4.5/5 stars is the memory is far less than that of other phones in its price range, 300kb compared to 1mb+ in other phones. Well enjoy.
