What a great phone!

Mar 23, 2007 by evanterry

First of all I just wanted to say that Cingular DOES provide Class 10 EDGE with 4 in and 4 out data transmission.

After having the 8700c and the Pearl I knew what I wanted and expected from a new BlackBerry device. A device with a louder speaker for ringers and speaker-phone for instance. A device that had the size of the 8700 and the user interface of the Pearl. Well, this all came together in the 8800.

Pro's
- Great UI
- Compact design
- AWESOME that it has Push-To-Talk
- Fast browsing for an EDGE/GPRS device due to it's push browser
- Works excellent with only one bar of reception
- Great battery life
- syncs okay to the mac via Marksspace.com: The Missing Sync for Blackberry

Con's
- No 3g... but hey... look at the coverage maps! Why have a handset that has a reputation for it's email push only available to areas that have 3g? I moved from San Francisco to New York a few months ago and if you go outside of the cities 3g is useless.
- It has everything but HAL

BB8800 could have been

Feb 26, 2007 by miacol

This phone is a good mobile device, but when you need to access your stuff on the move it's not that good of a phone.

As an overall problem I have is when I am on a call I might need to scan the net to check something. because the BB8800 uses EDGE and not 3G I can't access data at the same time.

Pro
1. Best BB device ever, they did a great job
2. Battery life is great compared to other phones.
3. GPS is built in no second device need, great feature.
4. Layout and screen setup all good.
5. The new mouse is great, didn't have a problem transitioning to it.
6. Text messaging setup is done nicely.

Cons
1. Does not use the 3G network (If Verizon has it why not give it to Cingular too, of course in Europe the Edge network is faster then in the US we use class 8, they use Class 10)
2. Can not do simulatneous Data and Voice.
3. Address Book needs enhancements (you would think that BB would improve this after so many years).

Don't get lost w/ GSP telenav

May 8, 2007 by jpdidde

I think the blackberry 8800 is a nice handset majorly because of the telenav navigation w/ out need of a puk. 9.99 a month gets you turn by turn voice directions and a map and for those of you like the Bizzle w/ the toenizzle a simple search and you can find the nearest foot doctor and if there closed nearest bar to drink away your sorrows for having such nasty nails on yo feet..........PEACE EZ-E all!!

WORST PHONE EVER!

May 7, 2007 by anpa94564

i ABSOLUTLY hate this phone with a passion. this phone has THE worst features in the history of technology!!
it lacks the pixels in which to present the pictures... i am not able to make an outgoing call without putting a pass code in every single time!! i also cannot open the web due to constant pop-ups and i have to use both hands while using this horrible device which should be [...] thrown at the president numerous times in the head!!!!

CONS: cannot maneuver like in the commercials, and lack of features!

PROS: none!!!

Overall i hate this phone and would recommend not buying this phone, but the Samsung C417

Ed. note: removed vulgar language

CAMERA

Apr 26, 2007 by TRICH22

I would have given the phone a 5 but it's missing a camera and i like that feature on a nice pda like the 8100 that's a great phone but i want to upgrade to the 8800 until i discovered that the phone did not have a camera on the device.
