Hello VX8700 bye E815

Dec 7, 2007 by 80sman

I had upgraded to the Z6TV from my Old Reliable E815. The E815 had much better reception and functionality. The Z6tv, Fingerprint Magnet, spent more time cleaning it than talking. The rizr feature be careful hangs up too easily. I decided to return for the LG 8700....should have gone with this one first. Second best phone ever owned next to My Loveable E815.

Pros
*Awesome Pictures
*Good Sound
*Easy Use
*Nice Size Keys
*Appearance Great
*Sound is super
*Web Browsing Fast
*Music Sound Good
*can actually take a picture and use it as a wallpaper or ring id
*Screen clarity and color are A1
*light weight
*phone is perfect

Cons
*None for me
If any have to get adaptor for headset
sd card under battery(but once you install shouldnt need to access it much)
Dafault ringtones not that great

If you want a phone that Looks great, gets super reception and superior call quality.
(and if you are a former E815) this phone is a Must buy

The best LG I've owned by far.

Take all of the PROs you've read so far on the 8700 and put them all under this review. Yes this phone is all that! I'm impressed.

BUT...

WHY? WHY? WHY! Must VZW sell an extended battery with such a cheap-ass plastic door. The standard battery has a metal door. Please make one for the EXTENDED BATTERY!!!

Man you people always have something to say about a newer phone released. Enjoy it, as it is a very good phone. A drastic improvement to the LG VX 8300. Now stop crying and enjoy it!

Satisfied

I have had this phone for 3 weeks. I have had great reception, battery is lasting 2 days, easy to text. I haven't played with the music. I have used the camera and the pictures and video are good. I don't like how it goes straight to video when I push the camera button on the side

Looks nice however I think I would have preferred it in black. The silver metal tends to be slippery at times and have come close to dropping it on several occassions.

The only other concern that I have is the battery has gotten hot on me a few times.

Love It, Love It!

This phone is awesome! I love this phone. Its close to perfect, at least to me. I tried the chocolate before this phone and this is 100% better! If you want a SLEEK and STYLISH look I strongly suggest you purchase a white hard case. Uh, it is beautiful, sleek, and masculine all-in-one. Plus ladies love a man who can keep white, white.

PRO'S:
Stylish
RARE
Rare Vertical Screen (FANTASTIC Clocks)
Unique Metal Shine
Unique White Keypad
Clear Screens
Batter Power
Service
Changeable Arrow Keys (4)
Adequate Speaker (unlike other reviews)

CON'S:
Metal Outside is NOT scratch proof
No Camera Flash
Camera button only activates camera when phone is flipped open.

In the end, I think anyone who wants adequate features for a phone, will be happy with this one. Again, I have a WHITE case and LOVE IT! This phone is so much fun, I hate to every leave, and if I were to ever loose it I would die. (but thats why I have insurance) And in case I drop it in the toilet like my last phone that I loved as well. lol.

I just got this phone and I like the phone but the reception is not as stellar as my previous phone, the battery does get hot very quickly, the battery life is in my opinion pretty poor, I have not used the handset like a normal handset, i use BT most of the time. The speakerphone is not that bad and the ringers are plenty loud. I have 30 days to think about this and when I used the phone for the first time I really had to consider bringing it back but I will give it a try for a few days before I jump to any rash decisions. On the bright side the screen is beautiful and the camera is fast and of good quality, the BT performance is great but volume is a little low. Menus are fast and fairly predictable and the phone feels solid! The battery is giving me concern, the heat dont bother me, but the fact that on my first call i got dropped bothers me. Hope this helps!

2 weeks with the LG-VX8700

Sep 10, 2007 by storage_man

Traded my LG VX8100 in 2 weeks ago for the LG VX8700. This is one cool phone. Its a lot thinner than the 8100, and weights about 1/2 once less.

Pros: The camera on this phone is worth the price. You can actually take a picture and recognize it after moving it to your PC.

Battery life (even though its new) seems to be as good or better than the 8100 std battery.

Signal strenght seems to be better (ie a clearer connection) in bad connection areas. I can actually use it at my house without standing by a window with my left hand on the frame.

Keypad has a great feel. I tried the RAZR and the keys are very small. The keypad on the 8700 are large (Good for large Fingers) and provide reasonable tactile feel.

CONS: (Things that I don't like) - You have to remove the battery to remove the SD card.

Don't know how long the little cover for the USB/charging port on the side will last. Its pretty flimsy.

The voice dial feature automatically dials the DEFAULT number for a given contact. The 8100 would prompt you for the different phone numbers that you had stored for a contact.

Speaker phone can only be enabled DURING a CALL not before as with the 8100.

Last but not least is the assignment of ring tones that can only be accomplished by downloading. The 8100 allowed you to load up the SD card and then you could assign audio files that resided on the SD card as a ring tone. This is a Verizon problem not a phone problem.

LG 8700 is a good phone.

Have had mine for about two weeks. In spite of having to return my first 8700 because of the ringer stopping...I now have my second 8700 and I still like it alot.

Pro's
The phone looks great, sounds great and takes decent pictures.

Bluetooth is easier to set up than my previous LG 8100

Con's
The key pad takes a lot of getting used to: it is easy slide off of one number and hit another by accident. The menu selector is slippery as well.

Nice design

Great quality phone; I am very satisfied!
This one is the best looking phone I have ever owned by far. The quality of calls and features like the camera make this product a great buy.

Awesome Phone (with a bug)

Jul 31, 2007 by Davz

BACKGROUND INFO:
However, the first one I got the hinge was slightly loose. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but my 2yr old VX8000's is still rock solid.

The reason I exchanged the phone was the pic messaging reset issue.

BUG INFO:
This is a MAJOR bug in the software on this phone. It causes a phone reset while operating, is easy to reproduce, and was a high occurrence rate.

To See it for yourself:
1. Camera Mode
2. Take Pic
3. Choose 'Send'
4. Select/Enter recipients
5. Add some text
6. Send message

Repeat

On your second attempt, the phone will reset itself as soon as hit Step 5.

NON-BUG Info:
Pictures in low-lighting come out terrible, just terrible.

Pictures in normal/bright lighting are absolutely awesome.

Being able to Edit/Crop/Zoom on your pics is an INCREDIBLE feature

Some animated wallpapers/menus slow down.

Wallpaper size is 240x274

Call clarity on this phone is CRYSTAL clear, I tested several phone's calls to my brother (who was outside the store on his E815) and on the 8700 he sounded extremely clear, much better than my VX8000.

The pouch they give you to carry the phone in is a really great idea, it doubles as a polishing cloth.

The charger connection seems a bit fragile.

Texting isn't as easy as I'd like. The flat buttons make it a little more difficult to type.
