Clean Clamshell

Aug 14, 2007 by misalpo

Great phone, clean design, great quality.

Sturdy, no fingerprints, no smudges, lightweight.

No dropped calls.

Very decent battery life.

Very nice clamshell

Very nice clamshell phone. I have always personally preferred the clamshell design over the slider or bar styles phone...
Besides the cool clamshell, this phone is very very nice. It's easy to use, lightweight, camera does a great job. Ringtones could be better but not a big deal to me.

Good Intentions?

Not sure what LG and Allel were thinking about this phone, its a bit confusing. Although a light and slim clamshell design, it has a small, low resolution screen without bluetooth! Other than the weight, this could be 2005 or 2006 phone.

Pros:
-Like many LGs I've owned, has great reception, call quality, and no lost of connection during the call (unlike the Samsung 420 I tried).
- Lightweight
- Speakerphone works well

Cons:
-Top heavy when opened, surprisingly awkward to hold
- Outside screen does not stay on after missed call or message waiting
-No bluetooth or data port, can't get pictures out onto pc
-For its size, very small screen with low resolution
-Maybe limited durability

As for everyday business use, I think a clamshell phone with stub antenna is the most practical. It seems they have better reception and holding of a call. Also, a full cover custom case with swivel belt clip can be bought for these types of phones (rather than a universal pouch case), helping to protect the phone with heavy use.

As for Alltel, they are great, wonderful customer service, fair pricing, and a voice mail system that gives people the impression its a landline phone (i.e., no ridiculous and redundant prompts when in voicemail, just your message).

my own fault

i hold an unfair grude against this fone. i never use the lock code, but i was bored a week ago and changed it to some obscure assortment of numbers. today i locked my fone and it is now useless. i an used to my bar-style fone and it's keypad lock feature. users be warned: key lock and fone lock are NOT THE SAME

Pros:
-Spiffy asymetrical look
-decent camera w/ effects
-city id(who really needs it tho??)

Cons:
-no bluetooth
-not evdo capable(alltel)
-no data cable yet?? (crossing fingers)

i wanted to give this fone a 4, but im still too angry at myself for turning my fone into a worthless piece of plastic.
