Best phone available at this time...

Feb 11, 2007 by mbranscum

I have tested and used the Samsung Sync, SE 810i, and several WM5 devices.

The v3xx beats all current phones for call clarity (no warble effect), very strong RF signal, very loud ear piece. Fast UI and revamped phonebook and software.

Extremely fast 3G when used as a modem with easy configuration.

Moto has a winner in this phone.

Great Phone

I searched a lot of phones on phonescoop before settling on the Razr V3XX. My wife and I both got one. While we don't use a lot of the advanced features of the phone (like internet connectivity) we are both very happy with the phone. For normal talking usage, the battery life is more than adequate. I charge my phone once every 3-4 days, but admittedly am not a heavy phone user. The ability to charge and connect to the phone with standard mini-USB cables has been a very useful feature. I charge my phone on trips without having to remember a separate charger, as the USB cable is used for connecting my camera to my laptop anyway.

Not What I Expected

I had heard the reviews and seen first hand the problems with the original V3 razr. When this model (V3xx) came out I was surprized that and expected to hear about all the issues in store for any person who happened to be foolish enough to buy one. I was lucky enough to speak with some of the agents that worked in the warranty department about known issues specific to this device....there are none. This phone is AWSOME! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality phone from Motorola. My only dislike about it is that I can't take MP3 files from my computer and use them as ring tones. Other than that....it's a great phone!

Fantabulous

The only reason I do not give this device 5.0 is that I had one very significant problem. I purchased the device in gold and loved it - great call quality, smooth transitions between screens when surfing the internet and extremely clear pictures. The con that I ran into was after about a week my SIM card would go bad and start sending my text messages like as tho they were picture messages and then stop sending them at all. Thats the only real complaint that I had...

I've heard alot of good things about this phone and I've had the V3 before.. I really like the phones but I've had many problems with this phone.

**Pros
-The phone looks great had a very nice solid look

-Voice recognition is awesome

**Cons
- Very poor battery life.

-The usb cover is annoying.

-Phone randomly turns off by itself.

-As mentioned above the battery life is poor, but sometimes it says I have low battery (in the red) If I turn it off and back on, then it suddenly has full life and its good.

Maybe this is just a problem that I've been having I've replaced the battery already, so Im assuming its just the phone its self.. If anyone has and info in correcting the problem please contact me.

Looks good, but feels fragile

After reading reviews of other RAZRs, I was skeptical of trying the V3xx. I tried two V3xxs and decided it wasn't for me.

Pros
-Sleek styling. It looks great.
-Crisp, clear screen.
-Loud! Even on the lowest setting, ring tones are very loud.

Cons
-Flimsy hinge. I tried two handsets. The first, the hinge broke within 3 weeks. The second, it got loose after 4 days.
-Felt fragile. I was deathly afraid of dropping this phone. It didn't feel like it would handle any kind of fall without breaking up like the Challenger Space Shuttle.
-Battery life. With moderate use, the battery only lasted a day and a half at best. I was charging it every night. There isn't an extended battery for it either.

Ultimately, I took this phone back and got a SYNC. The last straw was when the phone started turning on and off on its own. The battery was fully charged but it would just shut off; of course this only happened during important phone calls. If it turned back on, it would get to the main screen and just shut back off. Sometimes it would power on all by itself.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't recommend this phone unless the hinge issue was fixed, along with the lacking battery life.

I have Cingular service w/a MOTORAZR through
my employer. "Oh how sweet it is". I put
this phone in the same category as the
Motorola StarTac, a classic when it hit the
streets. And it fits in any pocket comfortaby.

Calling my first friend I couldn't believe the sound quality. It is like the person is right next to you! Using the camera I took a picture of my kitty. Again, excellent quality. It is digital camera quality and the resolution is amazing. Menu was a bit confusing at first. It came with some MP3 ring tones which were cool. Bluetooth file sending I could not get to work. I could send contacts via Bluetooth but no messages or pictures. Then again her phone was a Verizon phone. I am in my basement and get between 4 and 5 bars and the 3g signal. Another thing that bugged as it shut off randomly. My friend told me how to turn this off. Settings> Car Settings> Power-Off Delay> and 0 minutes. He told me he herd that this is done so that all applications reload on the Razr. Did not make real sense to me, and I couldn’t find any information about it on the net, but ok. You can also choose how long you want the Charger Time for your phone. Also in Car Settings. But I love how it shows your selected background. Screen quality is excellent. I have notice some people complaining about the USB cover. If you use your nail and open it from the bottom you should have no problem at all.

Pros:
Great signal quality
3G kicks ass!
Speedy software
Decent amount of storage
Up to 1000 contacts!!!
Beautiful menus and screens
Outside case is a very nice color
Lightweight
Keypad has been improved
Ring tones sound very nice
Beautiful video and MP3 quality

Cons:
Top of phones cover feels wired and creepy to me :-\
Menus are nice, but a bit confusing to learn
Some settings are tucked away
Phone is not truly ‘silent’ when you turn the ring tone volume down. (Key pad sounds)
Accessories were not included
Power-Off Delay was mean
Bluetooth sending was not a good experience

Overall: GREAT PHONE! Would defiantly recommend to anyone. Signal quality is defiantly the best out there. Phone has been improved over the other Razrs a lot. Expecialy the speed.

I have been though about 5 of these and had the same problems with all of them. The main problems with my phone were little or no reception at all and not sending or receiving text messages. Another problem was dropping calls and i kept having a beeping noise when talking, and didn't have a message on another call coming in.

Good Phone

Great phone. Much faster processor and Huge 60MB shared memory. Love the size of the screen and keyboard. Camera is better than on previous models but still needs improving. Needs a flash and also could be 2MP+ with the cameras out today be up to 8MP.

Being in the retail phone business I can tell you right now that the copy all to SIM or to Phone is the most important part of switching to a new handset. Terrible decision to remove this feature. Makes my job 10000000 times harder.
