Motorola T720 Verizon , good phone, with battery issues

Dec 1, 2010 by narn3049

While this phone operates good, and worked good in 2004 when I used it, but the battery sucked from the start. A fam. member and I got the same phone at the same time, and the battery sucked from the start for both of us.

I cannot give a higher rating because of the result of lost calls and texts, when it worked was when it was connected to the charger. When that was it was great. I got the T270C AGAIN from a friend and it seemed to have a little better of a battery but still sucky. It would be good for durability I suppose, but you will HAVE to do something about that battery

I didn't like this phone.

I have had about. 3 phones sense christmas and I'm coming onto a forth.

I find this phone to suck,
I'm kinda hard on phones I hear. but this phone was very very very fragile, it fell off my table and came up with scratch marks EVERYWHERE! I mean the paint or w\e you call it wore off and everything. My table is only about two feet tall and I had linoleum floors.

also the screen broke, I don't mean like shattered the screen for it broke off like first it was like working and only one part broke and I treated it like an egg and then I was charging it and someone bumped the table and the charger unplugged and went to the floor and it dragged the phone like two inches and the screen just went POP! and came off. I had this phone for about, 4-5 months.

it was very very fragile.

besides the fact it was fragile it was a good phone, but the fragile factor is still a bitch.

Moto T720

Hellomoto. Motorola's new catchphrase coined by their marketing department to appeal to the new, modern, chic crowd that is the American teenager. Released in October of 2002, the phone is set to compete with phones like the Sony Ericsson T68i, and Nokia 7210. Motorola has put out a camera-enabled edition, the T720i. While the T720 comes in 3 versions, 2 dual-band GSM, and a CDMA.The Motorola T720 is kind of a fusion between Motorola's old school StarTAC and the popular V60. Motorola, as many of its commercials are demonstrating, is trying to cater to the young, hip crowd offering a slew of features and a large, vibrant color screen.

The T720's slim body is comparable to other small phones out on the market today in terms of both size and weight. Taking a page from most other clamshell phones available, the T720 has an external LCD display which shows the time, battery level, signal strength, and in some cases, caller ID.

Continuing to with what's popular, Motorola added changeable faceplates as well - a nice touch and smart move judging from the popularity that similar Nokia's have garnered. However, the plastic does seem to be a bit light and fragile. I'm really not one to abuse my phones but this phone definitely should be treated with kid gloves. Good looking design but maybe they should have considered going with a lightweight metal instead sacrificing weight for durability. I had this Phone at one time. It was very durable. I enjoyed it.

T720 to the rescue!!

This was my first color phone, and I loved it! Though yes there are flaws...

Pros -
- Color screen bright!!!
- you can make your own tones (although short) in the pad device!
- Easy to navigate through functions
- Decent Reception
- Good Sound!

Cons -
- Often then enough the phone would completely turn off on me
- No Camera (Which it was shortly updated)
- Phone Froze up quite a bit
- Not really that sturdy
---------
Overall: The reason I purchased this phone was because my original Old School Kyocera broke "accidentally", And of course I had to quickly buy one. I am glad I purchased this phone, It did rescue me!! bwhahaha!!! It was good although unfortunately very outdated by newer phones. Thanks t720!

Reliable phone

I recieved this phone as a gift about a year ago and I absolutely loved it. I have since got a bit greedier and wanted a camera phone.

First of all I am/was using the phone on the Alltel network.

Strong phone. I've dropped this phone numerous times on asphalt which only caused a couple of deep gashes on the removable face plate, but the phone seemed to be working perfectly.

Good signal. I've often been the only student in class with reception within the lower floors of the building, and I can easily get some signal in the wilderness.

External screen. This is one of the most handy features on the phone with the time, date, missed calls, texts, alerts, signal and status.

There are many other good things about the phone, but I just consider them novilies and not necesseties, except the calculator.

Missing OK button. If you are used to a phone that has an ok button, you're screwed. This phone doesn't have an ok button, although it has a smartkey.

Poor internal screen. The internal screen is extremely hard to see in the parking lot on a sunny day, but it also hurts you're eyes to stare at for a long time in the dark.

Slow. This phone is slow and has a bit of lag time for it's menus. This phone will sometimes actually take up to 2 seconds while changing menus on the screen. The start-up time is a bit slow also.

Poor multimedia. Obviously the is no camera, which means this isn't the phone for pictures. It has a couple of sample pictures and a few polyphonic ringtones. There is no multimedia messaging on this phone either. Alltel also, said that the phone is incapable of using it's Axcess apps (They're probably lying.) to download content onto the phone.

Bad,bad phone

I have had this phone for about 3 weeks now.
This is just the worst that I ever had.
Battery does not hold on not even for a whole work day.Since I have to be constantly on the phone this just not suit me.
It scratched easily as if I had for an eternity.Screen goes blank on me.
The charging is terrible.
I have ahd to change numerous chargers on it.
I sold these phone and within the same week they were coming back !
Motorola please take these phones of the market!!!
They're not even worth to be sold cheap

A terrible phone

Mar 26, 2006 by crzy1_4life

The Motorola T720 is the worst phone. There is nothing wrong with the carrier(verizon). I recently lost my Samsung A-650 and used the 720 as a backup and it's terrible. The battery life is so low. The screen goes black, it is broken into 2, and its a large phone. I don't recommend buying this phone worth anything. I don't even know about Motorola anymore. I will probably go back to Samsung.

Absolute great phone.

Mine was good.

I bought my T720 off of Ebay, used it for Verizon Wireless for about 5 months, then I lost it.

Pros:
Size: The phone is a nice size, becasuse of the design it will fit well to your face because the phone it self flexes (but still feels strong)

Screen: Screen is huge, it may kill the battery time a bit, but its sure worth it, although its not as vivid as some of the newer phones with the 65k screens, it does the job well.

Ringtones: They sound very good, 40 cord. Most entry level phones out there today only have 16 to 24

Itap: I tap is a good feature if you like txting alot, but I wish you could add words to the phones dictionary.

Voice Dial: Great feature, and it works GREAT, the phone recognizes it almost every time!

Tri Mode: Able to use 1X digital, and Analog as a back up is great!

Menu System: Very easy to navigate, although the menu can be slow at times.

--------------------------
Cons:

Reception: It is not that bad, but other phones are better.

Battery: The battery time was about 2 1/2 days for me even with EXTENDED battery.

Vibrate: Should be stronger.

The phone is a nice phone, good features, but falls short of battery power and reception power (I don't know if the phone has bad reception, all I know is that the bars on the screen move around alot)

Side Note: Many people still have this phone from Verizon, and if your screen saids "D" make sure you take your phone to a verizon wireless store to get it upgraded to "1X" And if you dont like the phone, hope and pray they screw up the update because they will give you a new phone, I wanted a nokia, but they offered to me (3 months ago) a Motorola V265 free of charge.

Great phone, after more than 2 years

Jun 29, 2005 by jarizona

My wife and I both own T720 using Verizon and have had them for over 2 years. It has been a great phone.
Pros - Great reception, good color internal screen, good keys and voice dialing. Has the tri-mode analog when you leave a digital area. Solid construction.

Con - Exterior screen not color.
