Playing music

I'm going to use my phone as a music player. Do I have to buy the music kit from Verizon? I know it has the software and a cable, but can I get those elsewhere for less than $30? I don't need or want the headphones that are part of the kit.

Thanks.

I would just get the MA Kit from VZW, it will make your life so much easier when adding music to the phone. If the 30 dollars is what you are worrried about then call customer service and get a courtesy credit like I did 😁

Actually, I found a link to a free download of the music manager program on Verizon's website. So, I downloaded that and bought a cable off eBay for less than $8.

just get an microsd card. you can get em online for like 9 bucks. Then you just click and drag your music into the card and you'll have all the music you want. none of that vzw music thing.

You do not need the music kit. You can load it onto the card from your computer. First format the card in the phone so it has folders. Then, after using an USB adaptor for the card, using Windows Media Player 10 or a higher version, drop and drag or synch the music onto the card. The music has to be in MP3 or WMA format, not iTunes. Then you have to make sure the music is in the "My Music" folder. When I do this, I always have to move it from folders created by WMP into the My Music folder- it doesn't automatically do this. Finally, it has been recommended that you shorten the names of the songs. I do this, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, since the shortened names never show up. When you put the card back into the phone an...

you dont need to download anything.

if you have any kind of digital camera that takes SD memory cards, just place your micro card into its adapter then the adapter in the camera, hook up the camera to your computer, then drag songs into the folder called "my_music".

thats what i do.

you can also put any picture you want in the "my_pictures" folder.

just make sure you put your micro into the phone before doing any of that.
