Just so you know it is very likely that "my sounds" is the destination for sounds sent through messages and its likely that, as with most new Verizon phones, those files cannot be used as ringtones

this is one of the first phones in awhile that you can do this with. you have to send a sound file from your email from your mobile phone. you enter this into your "to" field of your email "yourphone #"@vzwpix.com make sure you include your area code too. once you recieve the pix message then you can save the sound as a ring tone

Go to http://mobile17.com/

sign up for free, upload a song, pick what section of the song you want as a ringtone and for how long, they'll do it for you and send it to your phone in a pix message 🙂 very handy.

Or you sure this is not one of those subsciption things for $9.99 a month like all the others on the internet? Just wondering---have you actually received a bill since you did this to make sure? Thanks for the info!! 🙂

Yes, my boyfriend has used the site to send at the least 10 ringtones to himself. You aren't charged anything, it's just like receiving a pix message from anyone else.

I don't have a 9900 but I have a 8300 and I have this thing called Bitpim and you can make unlimited ringtones and when you send it to yourself you have to save it as a rintone as listed under your options and just send it to yourself if you record them.

Hope this helps 🙂

I am not sure about the 9900 but on the 8600 you have to send the sound to yourself as a text and then in the options select save as ringtone. Hope that works.

😁 THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I was considering returning the phone because the one feature I wanted was to be able to record my own ring tones. I am so happy that I can do it! It's a little more complicated than my last phone, I could just record and save them directly, but as long as I can still do it I'm great!!! 🤣
