Phone powering down to prevent battery overheat

by RynoVH    Jun 10, 2009, 9:05 AM

Hi all. My Env (with verizon) just recently started saying "Phone powering down to prevent battery overheat" and it shuts off, when I restart it, it tells me it had to shut down for that reason and it will run for about 30 seconds before it shuts off again. It does this every single time I use it. I've used 2 different batteries and it still does it.

I dont recall it being exposed to extreme heat (not even over 90 degrees in my pocket) So I don't know how or why this is could be happening. The phone was running off of just the charger, so i figured it must have been the battery, but now its not even doing that. I really don't want to have to claim this on my insurance because its $50 to do so, which I dont have to spare, it cost me $80 to drive back and forth to school everyday. Also, I don't think they will replace it with an Env as they aren't made anymore? So i'll end up with some crappy phone.

Anyway else have this happen?
