has anyone read the katana vs 8400 review in review section yet. i mean you give it all pros, didnt name any cons and you give the phone a two and a half. thats like me saying i love my new hybrid camry, it saves me money on gas, the ride quality is excellent, the new design is beautiful and on a scale from 1 to 10 i give it a 5. i mean i know its your own opinion but you sound like you like the phone a lot and then you give it a two and a half rating its not very helpful. it makes it sound like your contradicting yourself.

I just left my own reviw and have it a 4 out of 5. However I did notice the point scall defaults to 2.5 so if you forget to change it that is what you are left with...2.5.
The reason for 4 instead of 5:
1. Others have said it. I should be able to use mp3’s on the microSD card for ringers. Although I have been able to use http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ and http://t1mmy.net/phone/phone.html to get around the ”having to buy from them ringtone problem” but you would really want a data package before using them. Hopefully a future firmware upgrade will correct this. Oh, BTW, I’m very successfully using a Sandisk 2gb microSD card in the phone.
2. The phone crashes. Like a windows crash. Others here have reported it and I have complained to S...

Hey.

1st off I would like to say that I have never had a problem with the 8400 freezing up ...

secondly I don't know what all the fuss is about with having to go to a certain site to upload ringers.

I plug my usb cable (that came with the phone)
into the phone and into my computer and stick my "modified" mp3's onto the sd card and transfer them to the phone for ring tones...

Whats seams to be the problem?

O and by the way, real easy way to mod the mp3's, use windows movie maker, it comes with windows xp,

take mp3 stick in movie maker, cut a 30 sec chunk, (any part of the song you want) save as a wmv and then, hears the real tough part .... use itunes to turn it back into an mp3 O my god that was hard

stick on sd card m...

I've been using a free program called mp3directcut to trim out the 30 sec snips.
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html »
It works directly with mp3 and I don't have to do any multiple conversions.
But the manual doesn't say how to use the mp3's for ringtones once you get them in the phone and up to now no one here has been able to answer that question.
So, which directory to you copy them to on the card and how do you then copy them into the phone? Instead, after the conversion, I've been using the uploader sites I mentioned to do the job. As I said, the manual doesn't say how to dirtectly do it and up to now no one here has been able to answer the question.

I just put a .mid & .mp3 (trimmed down like I said using mp3directcut) in every directory & subdirectory on that damn microCD card.
I then went into contacts and edited one. Went down to ringers, my Albums, in microSD. As usual it said thas no media in this album as it has always said.
So, if it can be done...how...where?
