Well, I haven't been able to make a real connection between my mac and the 8400. The 8400 is NOT compatible with iSnyc, which was a real PIA!
I plugged the cable into the phone, and then my mac, but after 5 impatient minutes of waiting for the drive to show up on my desktop, nothing happened so I pulled the cord.
I have an sd card reader, so I have been able to interface between the computer and phone via the SD card. You need to format the card, and "Create Folders" from the tools menu on the phone. Then you can drag pictures to the Pictures folder, and music to the Multimedia folder. When the card has images on it, and you insert it to the card reader, iPhoto will start up just like plugging in a camera.
