if you are using the lg chocolate, that is exactly the way.
open the main menu
go to "Settings & Tools"
select #3. "Sounds Settings"
select #2. "Call Sounds"
select #2. "Cal Vibrate"
set it to "On" and the phone will always vibrate at the same time as the ringtone.

I also have a Chocolate and use Telus (up here in Canada), and yes, under "Settings", #3 is Games/Tools. I have a feeling that the user interface is different than other providers. Anyway, I got mine to set to Vibrate mode by pressing and holding the * key (to the left of the zero on the keypad) until the phone says "Vibrate Mode Activated". There's a little vibrate icon on the key.

whoa, mary is scary. anyway, YEAH SHELDON! it's sexy isn't it? so ya.. it will go to vibrate.. but it's a 'silent mode' kind of thing. i really think this phone doesn't have the simple things i need. the speaker won't even go that loud with my mp3's.. =(. if you have a chocolate and are with telus, PLEASE HELP! or tell me it cant be done..

Hmm... well, sorry, I don't think I can help you with the "vibrate and ring at the same time" issue. And to clarify, yes, I have the Chocolate and am with Telus; I got the "Hot Chocolate" package in the silver box, with the bluetooth headset, etc. Regarding the volume level with your MP3's, did you try using the side volume keys? (The ones with the arrows on them.) They seemed to have worked on my phone. By the way, did you know about BitPim, the data cable, and loading your own ringtones on your PC without having to download from (AND PAY) Telus? I had to do some research on the net, but I figured it out. It's cool.
