using self made ring tones

Does anyone know if you can get a small .wav or .mp3 to use as a ringtone? I know you can download one for $2, but I dont want to pay for a song I already own. I have .mp3 and .wav files on the card and on the phone and they will work fine. I cannot find a way to get either of these files from the phone or the card to show up in the ring tone section to choose from. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know how. Verizon told me it is not possible with this phone, but I believe it is.

read the funformobile thread, that may help. Basically you need to cut those music files down and get the file size under 350kb then send them to your phone as a message.

You can send it using any email program yahoo, hotmail etc... just crop it using whatever program you prefer (I use soundforge). Send it to your phone yourphonenumber@vzw.com. When you recieve the message it'll ask you if you want save it, then select the save as ringtone option. When you go to set your ringtone it'll right there at the top of the list.

Although I haven't sent myself ringtones, BitPim works flawlessly if you have a data cable.
