Negative WSJ review
If you needed any proof that cellphones today are often about everything but phone calls, Verizon Wireless this week made that case by releasing a phone called the Chocolate, produced by LG, the big Korean electronics company.
The Chocolate can make and receive phone calls and text messages, but it's designed as a music player first. In fact, it was crafted to look like an Apple iPod, right down to its most prominent feature, a navigation wheel. Verizon is heavily hyping the Chocolate, hoping to capture some of the same sort of buzz that catapulted the iPod, and later Motorola's RAZR phone, into the status of cult-style accessories.
The Chocolate will hit Verizon stores next week and is available at Verizon's site for $150.

😕 ...the WALL STREET JOURNAL. I do not find the point of view of this review to be respected!! A couple of things I disliked about the review first he bashes the "ipod looking" design for copying apple but in return not functioning like an ipod....maybe because its NOT an Ipod! I can find the design validating because ipods are a household items nowadays so why not throw this design on the lg the reminiscent design will boost sales for VZW and LG.. you can blame capitalism for that. Next it seems this person had the phone for a day or two and did not really check the features the END can be customized thru the settings so you dont HAVE to press it to end a call. MEDIA.. I agree with the WSJ review, what were they thinking to have stereo speakes, but NO SPEAKER PHONE. How can LG or Verizon put a "gaget" phone on the market that doesn't have a duplex speaker?
It's like the home phone speakers without a mic, what good is this? I'm also curious to see how the "heat touch sensative" system operates with gloves on or in the cold winter? My guess is that this phone wasn't exactly tested in Alaska....

The point WSJ made about it not handling mp3's properly is correct, I think. The Chocolate does NOT read mp3 tags correctly. The mp3's I loaded were missing information like Artist, Album, Genre, and some titles were screwed up. The same files all show up correctly on my other devices. Hopefully, these bugs will be fixed in a flash ROM update or something. But right now, I have to agree with the article; the Chocolate is not a very good mp3 player.
