what is up with no speakerphone?
I don't get it either. The phone has an external speaker on the back of the phone? How can they say it has no speakerphone?

I personally could care less about speakerphone because I NEVER use it and actually get annoyed on my phones when I accidentally hit the speaker button, but I know this will be a big deal breaker for A LOT of people. Even though I don't use speakerphone, it still amazed me that a high-end phone wouldn't have it!

Go to the Verizon wireless web site and click on the phone's picture and specs. It clearly say speakerphone= YES on their own page.

What are you talking about? I've played with this phone and tried to look for speakerphone specifically. No speakerphone at all. Here's the spec sheet from the VZW site:

I went to the VZW site, selected Site map then phones, then it asks for your zip code and then it reveals all of their phones.
Check off the "compare" button for the Chocolate and the 8300 (which we know has a speaker phone) scroll to the bottom of the page and click compare.
When I do it, towards the bottom where it says speaker phone, it says YES next to both of them.
Possible web site flaw? I'd believe it.

Yeah, I caught that. I did the same compare and saw that it said YES to both. I've already passed the word along internally. Definite website error.

My LG l1400 has no speakerphone so I wouldnt be surprise if Verizons current hot phone does not have one either.

The L1400 is 2 generations behind now. It's been replaced by the C2000 which was just replaced by the CG225

Exactly my point The Chocolate is 2 generations behind. Anyways as soon as Cingular allows an upgrade for me i will be getting a phone with speaker, dont know I have survived so long without one. Besides the speaker thing and reception my LG L1400 is solid in every way.
