you are so very lucky, then. i was lucky too -- for a while. sprint sells it's treo's without ever asking if you have windows xp media center. i had a 650 for 1 1/2 years, and it failed (constant white screens and delays, it turned into a piece of worthless crap) but i had a full coverage so it was replaced with the 755. my 650 and the palm desktop software supplied with a disc worked fine for the whole time with the 650. i hot synced constantly (had to with the constant data entered to be safe with these unstable devices) and used a several sd cards with lots of pictures and files, and all backed up fine. i never knew it wasn't supposed to be compatible, as i was never told, and since it always worked, i never researched. but then i updated the palm desktop for the 755, and sure enough, i and now screwed! always comes up errors. won't even open. am trying to find a workaround as i NEED to backup, so i found this forum -- which offers no solutions so far. it is a total rip that the phone reps don't even know about this compatibility issue. i now know that it is right there on the palmone site when looking for software downloads, but before i found this out, even the sprint advanced techs didn't know or bring it up - had me doing all kinds of things that i didn't need to do, including buying a new hot sync cable. creeps and idiots. and they are supposed to be the "experts". i had to call them back and teach them that palmone does not support windows xp media center. NONE OF THEM KNEW at sprint. not sales people, not billing, not even their tech support. i am now going to try to reinstall the 650 software and see if i can run backups for the 755 with that, as it always DID work for the 650 i had, and a friend has told me that she uses the 650 software for the 700and it works (for the home edition anyway)..... it is worth a try. if anyone knows a workaround for the 755 and windows xp media center, please post!
