GSM 850 & Unlocking

I was wondering...will the T-Mobile Sidekick III have GSM 850?

Also, does anyone know if this will be a tough phone to get unlocked?

As it says on our spec page, (you know, the one you had to click on to get to this page, 😉 ) yes, the US version does have GSM 850.

The bigger question is why do they have the 850 band on it? T-Mobile does not support the 850 spectrum only Cingular. I meant T-Mobile does have roaming agreements, but something seems weird for this one.

I hope Danger is getting smart and is working with Cingular to release this unit on the Cingular network full featured.

T-mobile Roaming agreements are expanding and the 850 band is a big part of it...Sidekick is not going to Cingular...Thats the one thing T-Mo has going for them..to give it to the Competition would be stupid.

What is your problem? The Sidekick 3 has the 850MHz band on it since T-Mobile has signed "alot" of roaming agreements with other carrier to use that 850MHz band, where T-Mobile's coverage is weak. FYI, Cingular is not the only carrier that uses the 850MHz band.

Cingular will never get the Sidekick 3 or any other Hiptop device, since they charge alot for data usuage, and plus T-Mobile as a national carrier has the Sidekick devices as an exclusive device, and they will not let that deal go. Tell Cingular to go cry in a corner, and find another device to steal.

🤣 Your a funny guy getting all worked over this.

Also T-Mobile does not make that decission Danger does and once the agreement between T-Mobile and Danger is over they can do whatever they want. Including offer their devices to other carriers, because they can offer the device to both T-Mobile, Cingular and international carriers VodaFone, Orange, etc., etc., etc. and make more money then sticking to one vendor.

I stand correct, since Danger no longer manufactures the Sidekick it's Sharp. Danger has moved into the model of providing their O/S to anyone who wants to use it on a cellular device.

Guess what that means 😲

I guess the question of the 850mhZ band has been answered ("Yes"). But here's clarification that since the Sidekick 3 is exclusive to T-Mobile, the SIM unlock code will not be available at all! Anyone wanting to get this device unlocked will have to find some kind of software hack for it. But then again, T-Mobile's policies are based on politics and not on intelligence or logic so anything could happen...
