Will the Pantech 820 interface well with Macs? (e.g., Address book and e-mail coordination)? Also (apologies, I have not yet used MP3 downloads); will it require multiple steps to move music from the Mac to the memory card of the Pantech?

Yes,

The phone syncs really well with the Mac using Tiger, provided you buy the third party software "The missing sync." This is a great program (39.95) far superior to pocket mac, and go between. You get to choose easily whether to sync with Entourage or ical/mail, and bluetooth recognizes immediately after the download. If you want to transfer music, it won't be a problem using the program's included file browser for the smartphone, but you'll need to make sure that your music is in MP3 format or convert your native itunes files.
