Anyone know if there is a way to upload ringtones or select a normal ring instead of the cheesy songs?

you can make your own ringtones with windows sound recorder. Save the sound sample in 8 bit mono 11.025khz .wav format and for phones in the options. Then transfer that file to the phone using active sync to My Windows Mobile Based Device -> Application Data -> Sounds
